Already in 2018 ABC announced that they will renew season 6 of the popular Marvel Show Agents of SHIELD and the fans will tell you that this is long overdue. What’s more, apart from the announcement of the sixth season in the franchise, ABC has also renewed the seventh season after the renewal of the sixth season. Even though nothing official has been heard about the franchise’s seventh season, or maybe it’s just the last season, there is already speculation that it might be. Well, before we anticipate too much, there is a lot to know about the sixth season.

Background Story of Agents of SHIELD Season 6

Before we get into what to expect in the agents of SHIELD season 6, let’s take a look back to help those who are new to the show. When the show started in 2013, it was an offshoot of Marvel’s The Avengers. At its heart was Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), who brought together a team of agents from SHIELD (a secret organization within the MCU) who will be dealing with major events and people around the world who will be investigating them.

This means that each of the squadrons came with a different problem or case that needed to be investigated. However, the same universe as The Avengers and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in general, will be maintained.

The first season ran from September 2013 to May 2014, followed by the second to the fourth season, which also maintained the timeline. The fifth season came in December 2017 instead of September.

In Agents of SHIELD Season 6, the mission is to save the world and humanity after the death of the agency’s director, Phil Coulson. The new director Alphonso MacKenzie must rebuild his team on time and get his men ready to fend off the forces that are coming to give humanity a chance to survive.

When is the Film’s Release Date?

Since SHIELD agents started broadcasting in 2013, the release date is always September, as mentioned earlier. The first four seasons were released one year in a row, maintaining the September broadcast date and continuing until May of the following year, when the final episodes were broadcast. There was, however, a slight change in the release of the fifth season, which was released in December 2017 instead of September, although it was also released one year after the fourth season and then ended in May 2018 like all the others.

Of course, fans expected the sixth season in the franchise to air either in September or December 2018, but to their greatest dismay, it did not. And the wait seemed almost eternal.

The good news now is that a release date for the agents of SHIELD Season 6 has officially been set for May 10th, 2018. Instead of the normal 22 episodes, as all previous seasons have, there will only be 13 episodes, just like the seventh season, which has yet to be announced. However, it’s likely that the same release schedule will be maintained with Season 6.

Since there are only 13 episodes, we won’t expect the show to go too far like the previous ones with up to 22 episodes. So we should expect it to be rounded up soon and then we can talk about the next season again and if there will be another one after that.

Shooting for the agents of SHIELD Season 6 began in July 2018 and was completed in December of the same year. Contrary to what many believe that it was because of Marvel’s other works that the release date was postponed, it was ABC’s idea.

So far, no date has been given when it will be released on Netflix, but if the previous seasons are anything to go by, it should be released on Netflix by June 2019.

Let’s make it official, most of your favorite cast members would return in the sixth season of the franchise. One thing to keep in mind, though, is not to see much of Coulson since he died at the end of season five.

The ones who will form the cast of agents for SHIELD Season 6 are Clark Gregg, who will mainly play the role of Sarge and also appear as Phil Coulson; Ming-Na Wen, who will play the role of Melinda May, and Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson / Quake. There are also stars like Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, Henry Simmons as Alphonso MacKenzie, Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena Rodriguez (Yo-Yo), and then Jeff Ward as Deke Shaw.

Some will get recurring roles in the series, such as Maximilian Osinski playing the role of Davies, Piper played by Briana Venskus, and Barry Shabaka Henley portraying Marcus Benson. There is also Christopher James Baker, who plays the role of Malachi, and Karolina Wydra, who plays the role of Izel.

Of the new members of the cast, Izel is described as a mercenary who comes from a completely different galaxy and joins the S.H.I.E.L.D. team to survive the threats of outer space. Barry Shabaka Henley, for his part, plays the role of a scientist who joins the team as a very experienced scientist. Malachi is the one of whom not so much is known, except that he is an assassin who comes from another planet.

What is in the Trailer?

The trailer of the agents of SHIELD Season 6 is undoubtedly everything most of us expected, if not more. It begins with someone who looks exactly like Phil Coulson meeting the team, but he comes with death and destruction in his mind.

Next, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is still mourning Coulson. We also meet the new director of the team, Alphonso Mackenzie (Mack), who is ready to continue the organization’s mission to save lives.

The alarm has been raised that an unidentified object has entered the earth and the battle-ready team goes to find out that it is Phil Coulson. Or maybe not. It’s his double, who is nothing like the late director we all loved. Instead, this man – Sarge, also played by Clark Gregg – comes with the announcement “The Death of Everything”.

With the appearance of Sarge in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD season 6, it’s safe to believe that we’ve found a direction for the show to go because the villain has promised that he will not pause or stop until the human planet is eliminated.

Latest News on Agents of SHIELD Series

As it is with all the favorite series we’ve all come to know and love, there are always lots of rumors that never stop dying and this is no different from agents of SHIELD Season 6, here are some of the rumors that the mills are still grounded and some of the latest news:

1. Cancellation of the show:

One of the biggest questions people keep asking is whether the show will be canceled. This concern did not start today, as it even goes back to the fourth season of the Marvel series. The concern will not go away, even if we have come this far.

As we have already said, the news is that the show will not end. Or at least for now, since we know that season six is already coming up and then there will be the seventh season since ABC has already renewed the Marvel series for a seventh season. It gets interesting when you know that the renewal came shortly after the selection of the sixth season, which means that the station didn’t even wait for the premiere of the show.

The rumor is that the seventh season might come with fewer episodes than the previous seasons, including season 6, which has rekindled speculation that it might just as well be the last in the franchise. We’ll just have to wait and see.

2. Will it be based on events in Avengers: Endgame?

With Avengers: Endgame taking place five years in the future, the first rumor was that the sixth season of S.H.I.E.L.D. would take place after a large portion of the population of the universe had turned to dust. The idea, according to the head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, is not to do anything that would happen differently from what happens in the movie. Well, at least that was the original plan.

It was later revealed that the agents of SHIELD season 6 will take place one year after the events of the last season, which is also one year after Avengers: Infinity War” takes place, and is likely to stray from the path of the movies as the ever-changing storylines become increasingly difficult to keep up with. However, since the show will take place several years before the events of Avengers: Infinity War, it will likely stray from the path of the movies, as the ever-changing storylines become harder to keep up with: As the final game takes place, the storylines will neither interfere nor contradict each other. In addition, no character in Agents of SHIELD is said to be affected by Avengers: Infinity War’s ‘Thanos Snap’, further proof that they are moving away from the precedent of previous seasons that relied heavily on the timelines of MCU movies.
