Alex Gaskarth Biography & Age
It is difficult to ascertain the exact moment in Alex Gaskarth’s life when he decided he was going to be a musician but it is a conviction that started from his teenage years. Alexander William Gaskarth was born on the 14th of December, 1987, in Essex, England. Although an English man by the virtue of birthplace, Alex is actually an American from Baltimore, Maryland through his parents Peter Gaskarth and Isobel Gaskarth. Alex spent the first six years of his life in Essex before the family relocated back to the United States. Not a lot of information is known about his parents, but he grew up with two stepsisters and an older stepbrother. Every indication suggests he’s the only child that his biological parents shared.
High School is when teenagers usually start to discover themselves and identify with their interests. The case was no different from Alex Gaskarth and although the pursuit of his interest kept him from going to college, it has been the best decision for him thus far.
It is not uncommon for newly formed Bands to start out as cover groups, covering popular songs for gigs. Some of them grow out of it and make their own music, some of them don’t. Alex was part of a band formed during his time in high school called the Crew Fighters. The band, which lasted a year performed cover songs.
During his time at the Crew Fighters, he met Jack Barakat who, upon noticing his talents and songwriting skills, encouraged him to form his own band and do original songs. Alex, ever ready to move closer to the pot of gold, took the advice and formed a band that included Jack Barakat himself, Zack Merrick, and Rian Dawson, who left the Crew Fighters with Alex to join the new band.
The new band went by the name ‘All-Time Low’ and was established in 2003. They signed their first music deal in 2004 with Emerald Moon Records and released their music project, an EP titled ‘The Three Words to Remember in Dealing with the End’. They impressively did all of this while they were still in high school.
Since their debut EP, they have released four other projects, including the album, The Party Scene, and its follow-up, So Wrong, it’s Right.
All Time Low was signed by Interscope Records in 2011 and subsequently released their fourth studio album. The band only released one album under Interscope before they returned to Hopeless Records which they had left to sign for Interscope. To date, the band has released seven studio albums, consistently charting on the Billboard 200. Leading the charge of the All Time Low success has been Alex Gaskarth who is the band’s primary songwriter and lead vocalist.
Outside of his music, Alex is also a great host, having hosted the 2015/2016 Alternative Press Music Awards and is the co-host of the podcast, Full Frontal.
