Asuka is one wrestler who no one should be messing with, or else you settle the scores with her in the ring. She made her wrestling debut in the year 2004, exited in 2006, and made a comeback after about 18 months to emerge a champion and become one of the longest title holders in the world of professional women wrestling. She has an interesting personality we are going to tell you about, read on.

Asuka WWE – Biography and Age

Asuka was born on the 26th of September in the year 1981 to Japanese parents in Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Her birth name is Kanako Urai and she is believed to have had her growing up in her birth country as records have it that she attended and graduated from Osaka University of Arts Junior College. Asuka’s pre-wrestling career had her write for XBOX magazine in addition to designing graphics for Nintendo DS as well as for various other mobile applications. On the sporting side of life, Asuka is a versed badminton player and a figure skater. She, however, went for a career in fighting sports – wrestling.

Growing up, Asuka was a fan of wrestlers like Keiji Mutoh, Satoru Sayama, Yoshiaki Fujiwara, Antonio Inoki, Akira Maeda, Nobuhiko Takada, Masakatsu Funaki, Volk Han, and Minoru Suzuki which all had a huge influence on her deciding to pursue a career in wrestling. She made her professional debut in the year 2004 at an all-female promotion called AtoZ on June 16 with the ring name Kana. She fought there for the next 2 years but was forced out of the sports owing to a chronic nephritis injury she sustained and subsequently announced her retirement on March 19, 2006.

Asuka, as she would be later known, spent about a year and a half without wrestling to make a comeback on September 22, 2007, working as a freelance wrestler for promotions like Ice Ribbon, JWP Joshi Puroresu, NEO Japan Ladies Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Wave, and Pro Wrestling Zero1. She won her first title being the NEO Tag Team Championship on October 10, 2009, with Takahashi as a tag team by defeating contenders: Hiroyo Matsumoto and Kyoko Inoue.

She then went on to fight in several promotions like DDT Pro-Wrestling promotion, Toryumon Mexico’s DragonMania VII, JWP Openweight Championship, Pro Wrestling Noah, All Japan Pro Wrestling, and Smash promotion prior to making her debut in the US. She signed with WWE NXT in 2015 and made her debut on October 7 at NXT TakeOver: Respect. In June 2016, she defeated Nikki Cross in a Last Woman Standing match to retain her WWF Women’s Championship which she held for 502 days. She has since then continued to put up an impressive performance in SmackDown having been drafted to the brand from RAW in April 2017.

Relationship And Affairs

Asuka is one of such few persons who have been very faithful to the love of their life, she has not been rumored to have cheated with anyone neither has she been caught cheating. She is in a faithful relationship with her wrestling career and has not been associated with any male figure. Unlike most other women in her line of the profession who have been linked to one or a couple of guys out there, Asuka remains an exception which has got people asking questions on who she is dating. Being a wrestler and a successful one at that, Asuka looks fit to take up any opponent, and with her height of 5 feet 3 inches, and bodyweight of 62 kg she has been able to square up to many other female wrestlers and come out of duels with victories repeatedly.

Her wrestling laurels have seen her win these championships: Ironman Heavymetalweight Championship, JWP Openweight Championship (1 time), Kuzu Pro Diva Championship (1 time), NEO Tag Team Championship (1 time), Wave Tag Team Championship (2 times), Reina World Tag Team Championship (1 time), Smash Diva Championship (2 times), NXT Women’s Championship (1 time).

Her adopted ring name Asuka was derived from two words ‘asu’  (fly) and ‘ka’ (bird) which means to be on a higher plane.

Asuka owns a hair salon in Yokohama Japan called ‘Another Heaven’ which primarily caters to those seeking ‘alternative styles’ in their hair pattern.

She loves music and her favorite band is Gun N Roses.
