Born Avril Ramona Lavigne, on the 27th of September, 1984 in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. Avril is Canadian by way of nationality and is the second child of three siblings.

She has an older brother named Matthew or Matt, who Avril revealed in her interview she always wanted to emulate while growing up. Matt is also the bassist on Avril’s song “Girlfriend”.  She grew up with a Christian faith and her parents are deeply religious people. Her dad, Jean-Claude Joseph Lavigne was a technician at Bell Canada and her mum, Judith-Rosanne “Judy” was a stay-at-home mom.

The family would later move to Napanee, Ontario an even smaller town to Belleville. They attended the Evangel Temple where young Avril began singing in the choir at the age of ten. Avril, while growing up learned to play instruments like the guitar and piano among others. Her dad had a studio built in the basement and bought a sound machine for Avril to hone her skills. She began supposedly with country music before she decided to explore other genres. By the time she was a teenager, she had begun writing her own songs.

Avril started performing very early in her life, at church, at county fairs, and the likes; and it was at one of these performances that her first manager, Cliff Fabri, unearthed her as a talent at a performance in a bookstore. She was fourteen at the time. When she turned sixteen two years later, she would go on to be auditioned by Arista Records in New York City. In fifteen minutes, Avril was signed to a two-record, $1.25 million contract.

After this development, Avril dropped out of high school to focus solely on producing her first album and what an album it was! Titled Let Go, it was released on the 4th of June 2002 and it went platinum, selling over a million copies in a little over a month. Some of the hit tracks on that album were, “Complicated’, “I’m With You” and “Sk8er Boi”.

Not resting on her laurels, she kept the enchantment for her style of music flowing as she released her second album “Under My Skin” in 2004 which went on to top the US Billboards. The album had great tracks like “Nobody’s Home” and “Don’t Tell Me” and “My Happy Ending”.

In 2007 she released the album The Best Damn Thing with the hit track “Girlfriend” on it. Her next albums were Goodbye Lullaby and Avril Lavigne each one also boasting its own great hits. She has seen her fair share of recognition, scooping top awards at the Juno Awards as well as being nominated for 8 Grammys.

Music has not been her only area of expertise as she has her own fashion line and fragrance as well as having to appear in a couple of movies. Avril Lavigne has a net worth of $50 million.

Avril has been married a couple of times down the years. Firstly, she met Deryck Whibley, a Canadian musician and they were married in 2006. After three years of marriage, they finalized their divorce in 2010. She went on to date Brody Jenner for a bit before she met Chad Kroeger. By August 2012 she was engaged to him and by July of 2013, they were wed. They would later go on to separate in 2015.

Is Avril Lavigne Dead or Alive?

There has been a rumor that Avril has been replaced by a lookalike named Melissa since 2003. The conspiracy theory states that Avril couldn’t handle the spotlight and had to use a lookalike but the real Avril would later pass away and the record label decided to continue with her doppelganger. Well, it’s quite the theory but it is false. Avril Lavigne is alive and rocking.
