She was noticed by a fashion designer called Marcos Toledo one day while she was working her job as a waitress in a local restaurant. This ushered her into the world of modeling. Three years later, Barbara Mori finally moved out of the house and went to live with her cousins.

A series of events that took place over the next few years led to her taking acting classes at  El Centro de Estudios de Formación Actoral and subsequently made her acting debut on 1996’s Mexican telenovela, El Centro de Estudios de Formación Actoral. Her subsequent performance in Mirada de Mujer won the actress her first award – a TVyNovelas Award in the category of “Best New Actress”.
