Bear Grylls Bio (Age)

Edward Michael Bear Grylls was born in Donaghadee located in County Down, in Northern Ireland on June 7, 1974. He was partly raised in Donaghadee before his family moved to Bembridge on the Isle of Wight.

Bear attended Eaton House, Ludgrove School, and Eaton College. After his graduation, he enrolled at the University of West England where he studied Spanish and German Languages. He further went to the University of London, Birkbeck, where he obtained a part-time degree in Hispanic studies. He graduated with a 2.2 grade in 2002.

Career

Bear served in the British Army from 1994 – 1997. He was trained in winter warfare, unarmed combat, survival, climbing, parachuting, explosives, and desert warfare. After his training, he was posted to North Africa twice as a survival instructor. However, his career ended in the army as a result of an accident he encountered in Kenya when his parachute refused to open. The incident caused a spinal injury which led him to undergo rehabilitation in order to recover.

Furthermore, after his recovery, Bear Grylls who once dreamt of climbing Mount Everest was able to make this dream a reality. On May 16, 1998, the young adventurer became one of the youngest climbers to have achieved this remarkable feat and placed his name in the Guinness Book of Records.
