The singer, songwriter, and actor have the golden boy and teen dream of the 70s, David Cassidy, as his father, among many other family members who have strong roots in the entertainment industry.

The young singer isn’t basking on his generational laurels as he is actively pushing to make his own name in the industry. Beau is known for working with some of the greatest names in music like Terry Britten, and Mark Spiro. He has also been involved in a few movie projects both behind and in front of the camera. Beau Devin Cassidy was born February 8, 1991, in Los Angeles, but he grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The entertainer was born to his father, David Cassidy, and his mother, Sue Shifrin. Beau’s mother, Sue, is a well-known songwriter. His father David Cassidy was a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and actor. He was one of the most popular personalities in his teenage and early adult years and memorably starred in the popular 70s musical sitcom series, The Partridge Family. He died in November 2017 from multiple organ failure after being diagnosed with dementia in 2015.

Growing up, Beau Cassidy unsurprisingly developed a love for all things entertainment. While in high school, he appeared on a plethora of stage productions including The Music Man, Pride and Prejudice, and The Wedding Singer.

Beau Cassidy went on to study at Northeastern State University before subsequently obtaining a degree in Theatre and Arts from Boston University. His first job out of school was at The Weinstein Company, where he was employed as a production assistant for a few months. He then joined A Way Around Films as a production manager and later as Associate Director of Investment Sales at One Commercial Realty Services.

Beau Cassidy is really pushing his music and acting career in any way possible. Besides his solo career, Cassidy is a part of a three-man rock band known as The Rivalry, and together, they have performed on different tours and events across the country.

Cassidy’s family tree has some serious branching going on, to say the least. For one, his father, David, was married three times. His mother Sue Shifrin was his father’s last wife and their marriage lasted 23 years from 1991 to 2014.

David Cassidy was first married to Kay Lenz from 1977 to 1983 and then to Meryl Tanz from 1984 to 1985. Beau Cassidy is the only child from all his father’s marriages.

The singer also has a stepsister, Katie Cassidy. Katie is known mostly for her role as Black Canary on the series, Arrow and her role on Gossip Girl. She doesn’t have a relationship with their father David as she was raised entirely separate from the Cassidy family. Katie, born in 1986, is the product of David Cassidy and fashion model, Sherry Williams. The two were never married.

Beau’s grandfather, Jack Cassidy was a well-known, Tony Award-winning actor and singer in his heydays. His grandmother, Evelyn Ward, and step-grandmother Shirley Jones are both iconic entertainment figures of their time as well.

Beau Cassidy has three uncles, from Shirley Jones: Shaun, Ryan, and Patrick Cassidy. Shaun is one of the stars of the 1970s series, The Hardy Boys, and 1980s Breaking Away. Patrick is best known for his roles in musical theatre. Through his uncle Patrick, Beau also has a cousin, Jack Cassidy, who is equally a singer.

1. Beau was well-loved by his father. David, during an interview with People, stated that Beau was one of the best people anyone could ever meet.

2. At the age of 16, he portrayed Mickey Johnston in a production of Blood Brothers by Stagedoor Manor. David Cassidy had played the same role many years ago, during his time on Broadway.

3. In 2014, he tried out for the music competition show, The Voice. However, he didn’t make it through the blind auditions as none of the judges turned for him. His cousin, Jack Cassidy, was selected and chose veteran singer, Alicia Keys to be his coach on the show.

4. Beau Cassidy has previously outlined his musical influences in various interviews. Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, and Robin Thicke, among a few others, inspire him.
