Seal is a British Soul and R&B singer who has become very famous for songs such as the highly celebrated Kiss from a Rose. He began his career in 1987 and has since then, sold more than twenty million copies of his records and has won many awards in the process. Biography of Seal (Musician)
The British singer was born Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel on 19 February 1963 in Paddington, London. While his mother, Adebisi Ogundeji was a Nigerian, his father, Francis Samuel was a Brazilian. Shortly after he was born, the boy who would grow up to be a very powerful voice was placed in a foster home in Essex.
When he was 4, however, he returned to his biological parents where he had to face his father who was very strict and abusive. Because there was hardly any communication at home, he did not realize that he had the talent for singing until he was 11 years old when his teacher made him sing on stage. After he sang I Can See Clearly Now at the school concert and saw the reaction of everyone including his parents, Seal knew that he had something for music.
By the age of 17, Seal left home and opted to remain homeless as he saw himself through school. He lived in squats. After getting a diploma in architecture, he took to various jobs.
With his career as a singer, it was until after he was 23 that he first started. In fact, he stated that he was sort of bullied into it by a girlfriend who after heard him sing for the first time, dragged him to Tottenham Court Road and got him a bass guitar, a drum machine, and a four-track, telling him that was what he was supposed to be doing.
Before too long, Seal was singing at local bands and he got invited by London funk band, Push to do four gigs in Japan, something that would get each of them £2,000. He agreed and joined the band. He decided to remain in Bangkok where he continued writing songs for what would later be his debut album that sold millions of copies.
When he returned to England, the singer was ready for his first single, Killer. The song became a hit when it was released, putting him in a good spot for a career that would be very successful. He released his first album, Seal in 1991 followed by Seal II in 1995. By 2017, he had already released five more albums.
From 13 Grammy nominations, the soul singer has won 4. Other awards he has won are 4 Ivor Novello Awards, an MTV Video Music Awards, and several others.
Is He Married?
For anyone who has followed anything about Seal, one of the things one must have known is that the singer was once married to . This is widely known because each year, the couple had a vow-renewal ceremony.
The first time that Heidi Klum, a supermodel, and the singer met was in 2004 when he came to the gym. Immediately she saw him, Heidi fell for him and they got talking. That was shortly after her breakup from Flavio Briatore for whom she was pregnant.
Already in love with the supermodel, there was no going back for Seal who engaged her in the same year and they got married on the 10th of May 2005. Their first child together Henry Günther Adeola Dashtu Samuel was born in 2005 followed by Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel in 2006, and then Lou Sulola Samuel in 2009.
Although they renewed their vows each year, the couple announced they were separating in January 2012 and in April, Klum filed for divorce from him. Their divorce was finalized in 2014 but the two still remain as close friends.
Since the divorce, Seal has not remarried, but he has not remained single either. He got into a relationship with in 2015. The two remained together for only a year before splitting in 2016. There have been rumors and speculations that the singer was dating Delta Goodrem in 2018, but as it turned out, there was no truth to the claim.
Where is He Now?
While Seal is not as active in a lot of things as he used to be, he is still very much around. He was a guest judge for the twelfth season of America’s Got Talent in 2017. Also, he released his tenth album Standards (Deluxe) which has got him a Grammy Nomination for the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album ahead of the 2019 awards.
