Biography of Bobby Flay
The chef cum reality TV personality was born Robert William Flay on December 10, 1964, in New York City, to Irish-Americans parents Dorothy Flay and Bill Flay, who raised him up on the Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan. Flay, who was raised Catholic, attended denominational schools. He dropped out of high school at the age of 17 and later enrolled at the French Culinary Institute after spending some time at Joe Allen Restaurant, which is located in Manhattan’s Theater District. He graduated from the French Culinary Institute in 1984, after which he started working in some places before establishing his own restaurants -Bobby’s Burger Palace (BBP) which is now located in several other cities.
Bobby has hosted about 14 cooking shows, authored several cookbooks, appeared in shows, TV series and films, and boasts of many awards and accolades. Bobby Flay, who stands at a height of 1.79 meters, also has a personal interest in Thoroughbred horse racing. From his numerous financial sources, he has amassed a fortune worth $30 million.
Married – Wife and Daughter

Nevertheless, he is a father to a young woman called Sophie Flay, who came from his romantic relationship with his second wife. Bobby’s kid was born on 16th April 1996 in the United States.
She made her first appearance on television in 2011, according to reports. Since then, she has starred together with her father in a good number of shows, including Food Network’s Snapchat Discover channel. In 2013, Sophie appeared on Rachel Ray with her dad and Beat Bobby Flay in 2015 (once) and 2017 for a Thanksgiving showdown. In 2016, she was on Brunch at Bobby’s twice. Bobby reportedly named a salad (Sophie’s Chopped Salad) after his daughter from one of his earliest shows, Hot Off The Grill with Bobby Flay. Although the recipe is the chef’s signature Southwestern cuisine, the salad is assumed to be Sophie’s favorites.
According to a LinkedIn page with her name, Sophie started studying broadcast journalism at the University of Southern California in 2014. She is said to have graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2018 and also boasts a number of extracurriculars on her resume: she hosted a music show for her school publication, was part of her school’s a capella group, the Sirens and a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. An avid animal lover, Sophie loves her father’s cat Nacho as well as other four-legged species.
Past Divorces
The New York native-restaurateur has been married thrice in his lifetime. He entered his first marriage with Morristown, New Jersey-born chef Debra Ponzek, on 11th May 1991. The two, however, divorced in 1993, leading Flay to marry American TV host and businesswoman, Kate Connelly, in 1995. Their union produced a daughter (Sophie) the following year but officially crashed in 1998.
Bobby’s third attempt at marriage was with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit screen actress Stephanie March. They tied the knot on February 20, 2005, and reportedly separated in March 2015. The pair’s divorce was eventually finalized on July 17, 2015.

A few months after Bobby Flay and March finalized their divorce, precisely in February 2016, the later got connected to Canadian dancer/singer/actress Heléne Yorke and they became friends.
