Bonner Bolton is a professional bull rider and fashion model. He was also a contender in the 24th season of Dancing With the Stars with fellow star Sharna Burgess as a partner on the show. He emerged as World Champion title winner in the 2007 Championship Bull Riding competition.
Bonner Bolton Bio
Bonner was born on June 1, 1987, to former Rodeo cowboy fathers, Toya Bolton and Sally Bolton in Odessa, Texas. Toya who prepared Bonner for a career in professional bull riding himself won the George Paul Memorial in 1991. Bonner went on to win the Findlay Toyota World Champion title Championship bull riding (CBR) competition in 2007 at the age of 20.
Over a career spanning 14 years, he competed in several competitions including the 2015 Professional Bull Riders(PBR) Built Ford Tough Series World finals in which he came fourth place. He was the only one of four professional bull riders to successfully make an eight-second ride on now-deceased PBR top bull Rango as stunt double for Scott Eastwood in the movie The Longest Ride. This is no mean feat as, throughout Rango’s career, there were only twelve qualified rides out of seventy-five attempts. He also won the Las Vegas (2011) and Hobbs (2013) championships.
His career as a pro bull rider, however, came to an end as a result of a neck injury sustained in a wrongly timed dismount at Allstate Arena, Boston in January 2016. This left him paralyzed until after the surgery was performed on his vertebra. He was up and about within a few months but heeding his doctor’s advice, he was never to return to professional bull riding again.
In May 2016, after successful surgery and subsequent recovery from the temporary paralysis, PBR parent company Endeavor (formally IMG) offered him a fashion modeling contract, an offer he accepted and has continued to work as a fashion model, posing for brands such as Saks Fifth Avenue, American Eagle, and Boot Barn among others.
Bonner has a tattoo across his chest that reads “Faithfulness”. According to him, this is the one word that kept him going through the injuries and pains resulting from his career and life’s other challenges. His brother, Brody, was also a bull rider but later gave it up for other pursuits. Bonner was part of the cast of Dancing with the Stars’ 24th season. He and his partner on the show Sharna Burgess came fifth place.
Girlfriend, Wife
Bonner Bolton’s popularity grew in leaps and bounds due to his participation as a contender in the 24th season of Dancing with the Stars. He was rumored to be romantically involved with his dancing partner and professional ballroom dancer Sharna Burgess as the obvious chemistry between the two came to light in performances, practice sessions, and interviews.
An incident that further fuelled this rumor was a video showing Bonner grabbing Sharna in an intimate manner. Both, however, denied any romance and insisted they were both single and strictly dancing partners focused on putting in their best for the show. Nonetheless, Bonner when asked about qualities he would like in a girlfriend mentioned he would want her to be genuine, humble, and have a lot of drive like Sharna.
Sharna on her part, showed admiration for Bonner and alluded to being open to the possibility of dating but was focused on the show for the time being. Bonner in an interview also expressed admiration for fellow Dancing with the Stars contestant and Fifth Harmony group member Normani Kordei. He said that she “lights up the room when she works in” and openly asked her to go on a date with him.
When asked if she would oblige, Normani said she would definitely love to “link up” with Bonner when she got back to Texas after the show. It remains to be known if anything happened between the two. However, Bonner has never been married.
Is Bonner Bolton Gay?
A leaked selfie video of Bonner Bolton in September 2017 sparked rumors of him being gay. The video was said to have him in the nude performing some sexual act. He has not made any public statements regarding this video or his sexual orientation at the time of this writing.
