Playing a superhero is all the rage these days and Brandon Routh has been lucky enough to join the fray, playing not one but two superheroes.
The actor took on the role of the iconic Superman in 2006 when he landed the role of Clark Kent in the Bryan Singer-directed movie, Superman Returns. Then in 2014, he was cast in a recurring role as the lesser known superhero Ray Palmer/The Atom on the CW television show Arrow. Brandon Routh reprised the role on another CW television The Flash before moving to a starring role, still as Ray Palmer, on DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, also still on the CW. Both roles – as Superman and Ray Palmer – were well received by critics which can serve as a testimony to Brandon’s star power and talent.

Who Is Brandon Routh? – Biography
Brandon James Routh was born on the 9th of October, 1979 in Norwalk, Iowa. His father, Ronald, was a carpenter while his mother, Catherine, was a teacher. Brandon, who was raised in a Methodist household, is the third of four children.
Growing up, he played several musical instruments including the piano and trumpet. He also attended Norwalk High School where he not only participated in sports but he also took part in theatre and music.
Though he was passionate about acting, Brandon never really considered acting as a fulltime career because he grew up in a small town. He was also very fond of comic books and superhero movies, especially the Superman films.
After high school, Brandon Routh went on to attend the University of Iowa with the intention of becoming a writer. However, he was unable to afford the tuition fees and took up modeling instead to earn extra income. During this time, he was often told that he bore a striking resemblance to Christopher Reeve, who played Superman in earlier films from 1978 to 1987.

In 2006, the actor proposed to Courtney Ford, who had been his girlfriend of three years. The couple got married the following year, in 2007, in Santa Barbara at the El Capitan Ranch.
Like Brandon, his wife is also in the entertainment industry. Courtney Ford is an American actress best known for her roles in True Blood, Dexter, Parenthood, Murder In The First, Revenge, Supernatural and Legends Of Tomorrow.
In 2015, she landed the lead role as Jessica Crowder on Kept Woman, a television film on Lifetime. Courtney, who has been acting since 1998, has proven over the years that she is talented and capable of handling roles in different genres of entertainment including comedy, science fiction, drama, and fantasy.
Though Courtney was initially brought on as a recurring character on Legends of Tomorrow, she was upgraded to a main character starring opposite her husband who plays Ray Palmer/The Atom on the show.
Throughout their marriage, the pair has managed to keep a low profile and have succeeded in keeping details about their marriage away from media outlets. However, some facets of their life together occasionally seeps out and makes it into the gossip pages – like the fact they have a son together.
In March 2012, it was announced that Brandon and Courtney were expecting their first child together. On the 10th of August 2012, their son – Leo James Routh, was born.

Brandon now works out only twice a week, focusing on heavy lifting. He also manages to keep his physique by adopting a Paleo bulletproof style diet which focuses on consuming low carbs, high fat and moderate protein.
