Brent was born on December 31, 1971, to his parents in Hempstead, New York. He attended California’s De La Salle High School where he played to popularity in the school’s renowned basketball team. Graduating in 1990, he proceeded to Oregon State University where he played for the Beavers. By 1995 he was a full-fledged graduate with a degree in Sociology. Brent, who had basketball flowing in his veins, applied and was selected at the first round of the 1995 NBA draft by the renowned Denver Nuggets. His rights were soon traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Brent exceeded expectations in his first season with the Clippers as broke the rookie record with 123 3-pointers, a 10.4 ppg and 38% 3-pt average in 179 games.
