The Former Detroit Lions man was born on September 29, 1985, in Newnan, Georgia. He was raised alongside three other siblings by their parents, Arica Johnson and Calvin Johnson Sr.

Johnson attended the Sandy Creek High School at Tyrone, Georgia, and from here he moved to the Georgia Institute of Technology to study Engineering. While playing for the college team, Calvin made some achievements which included making it to the First-team Freshman All-American in 2004 and being named the ACC Rookie of the Year in the same year as well as in 2006. Calvin Johnson also made some achievements including recording 6 Pro Bowl appearances, making 3 first-team all-pro, and recording NFL receiving yards leader twice.

The first contract signed by Calvin when he was starting out with the Detroits was valued at $64 million. As pointed out, this made him the highest in the history of the Lions at the time. His next contract was worth US$132 million with $60 million as a guarantee.
