Camila Mendes’ career is just starting out so it is not surprising if her name does not immediately ring a bell. For those who are fans of the TV series Riverdale, Mendes is certainly no stranger.
Camila is an upcoming American actress and a new name many should look out for on the Hollywood roster going forward. She plays the role of Veronica Lodge in The CW television series, Riverdale.

Camila was born in America although, as her name already suggests, she is not of American descent. She was born Camila Carraro Mendes, in Charlottesville, Virginia on June 29, 1994. Her parents are Brazilian, her mom goes by the name Gisele Mendes, and her dad is Victor Mendes. She has one sibling, an elder sister that goes by the name Kiara Moreno. Her mom, who only speaks Portuguese is from Porto Alegre, the Rio Grande do Sul. Victor Mendes, her dad, can speak both Portuguese and English and is from Brasilia, Federal District.
As a child, Camila moved around a lot but spent the bulk of her childhood in Florida. She had her education at American Heritage School in Plantation. At one point in her childhood, when she was 10 years of age, she moved to Brazil with her parents for a year. This was around the time when her parents got divorced. She attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Subsequently, she also spent two semesters at the Stonestreet Film Acting Conservatory.
Camila Mendes found her love for acting at the young age of eight as she reported in an interview. She participated in many plays and dramas in school. She says that for the longest time, she has never imagined herself doing any other thing with her life other than acting.
Her first acting gig wasn’t really an acting gig per se. She secured a job to feature in a commercial for the renowned furniture company, IKEA. But this was just the beginning. Her big break came in 2016 when she won the audition to be the lead character in the new teen drama TV series, Riverdale. She played the character, Veronica Lodge, a silver-tongued, manipulative high school sophomore. The movie was a disruptive spin on the popular Archie comics.
At this point in her career, she was being represented by the Carson Kolker Organisation, before moving on to the Creative Arts Agency. She even bagged a Teen Choice Award for Choice Scene Stealer on the Riverdale project, in 2017.
Camila had been involved in numerous auditions for various roles in the past but did not get any of them for one major reason – she wasn’t Latina enough. She even lost an audition for a role as Jennifer Lopez’s daughter in the movie Shades Of Blue. The role was eventually undertaken by Sarah Jeffery.
She initially wasn’t interested in trying out for the part of Veronica Lodge, she and her agent thought they were going to go with a ‘white pin-up type girl’. However, when she found out from a friend that the writers of the movie wanted to make Veronica Latina, she was all over it. She was the last person to be auditioned for the role, having only just indicated her interest.
She also participated in other TV series like GeekRockTV and TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles. She has also been on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show with Seth Meyers. She also plays the role of Morgan in the 2018 movie The New Romantic.
Other than acting, Mendes has other interests like the fashion Tumblr website that she runs. For whatever reasons, however, she chooses to keep this on the down-low.
Boyfriend, Feet, Height
Camila has been in a relationship since September 2013. Her boyfriend’s name is Ian Wallace, who is himself a film director. She made a post about them on her Instagram page in September 2016 to celebrate their anniversary. For some reason, she took it down later. This is either because they are no longer together or want to keep their relationship away from the public eye.
Mendes is a beautiful Latina goddess with a petite stature. She is just 5 feet 1 inch (1.57m) tall. Many of her fans will readily agree that this makes her even more beautiful. Her shoe size is 6 (US) and 36.5 (Europe).
