Carlos Hyde Biography, Age
The Cleveland Browns running back was named Carlos Dramome Hyde after he was born on September 20, 1990. As he came of high school age, he schooled and graduated from Naples High School where he gained recognition for playing football. At the school, Naples Daily News and the Ft. Myers News-Press named Carlos Hyde the Player of the Year for his 1,653 yards rushing with 16 touchdowns by the end of his senior season.
Carlos had before him, scholarship offers from Florida State University, University of Miami, Ohio State University, and the University of Florida. He committed to play the grid game for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team beginning from January 2010. The lad in his junior season missed 2 games due to an ankle injury but for the other 10 he played, he recorded a total of 970 yards rushed with 16 rushing touchdowns. In his senior season, he missed 3 games due to a suspension he suffered but still had a total of 1,282 yards rushed with 14 touchdowns which were good enough to get him the Associated Press first-team All-Big Ten selection and a third-team All-American.
Carlos Hyde entered the NFL as a San Francisco 49ers pick; 57th overall in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Teaming up with the 49ers, he had to prove himself better than the likes of Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, Marcus Lattimore, and LaMichael James to find a place in the team. Nevertheless, he didn’t have to work too hard as a series of injuries some of the players had seen him as a backup to Gore.
Carlos ended his first NFL season playing 12 games out of which he had 83 carries for 333 yards with four touchdowns. In his second season (2015) with the Niners, he finished the season’s campaign posting 115 carries with 470 yards and 3 deserving touchdowns, and one touchdown from a spin move. He suffered his first pro career injury this season when he fractured his foot and ended the season lying on the injury reserve list. Contrariwise, Hyde also had the best game of his career this season against the Minnesota Vikings as he scored 2 touchdowns on 168 yards on 26 carries.
He started 13 games in the 2016 season from which he had 217 carries for 988 yards and 6 touchdowns with 27 receptions for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns. Sadly, he found himself down with an MCL injury and he sat out the rest of the season on the injured reserve list.
The Cincinnati-born footballer had an injury-free 2017 season where he played all 16 league games recording 940 rushing yards, with 350 receiving yards and 8 rushing touchdowns which is a career-high record for him.
Following his impressive contributions to the success of the San Francisco 49ers in the 4 seasons he played with them, the Cleveland Browns sought his services for three years beginning in 2018 through 2020 in a contract worth $15,250,000. The terms of the contract had with it a $3,500,000 signing bonus and $8,000,000 guaranteed. With the new contract, Carlos Hyde receives a base salary of $1,500,000 in 2018 which will increase to $3,250,000 and $4,500,000 in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
