Carrie-Anne Moss is a Canadian actress, born on August 21, 1967, in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Her parents are Melvyn Moss and Barbara Moss. Her mother named her after a song titled Carrie-Anne, a 1967 hit song by the British rock band, The Hollies. Carrie-Anne is not the only child of her parents, she was raised alongside her elder brother, Brooke Moss. At the early stage of her life, she lived in Vancouver with her mother and joined the Vancouver children’s musical theatre when she was 11. In her 12th grade at Magee Secondary School, Moss toured Europe as a member of the Magee Secondary School choir.
After high school, Moss started doing modeling jobs so she could save up and apply for acting classes. She modeled in Spain for a year and later moved to Japan, where she worked as a model for four months. During her time in Barcelona, she featured in several TV commercials and auditioned for a role on the CBS series Dark Justice, which was still filming there at the time. She got the role and starred as Tara McDonald in the television series in 1991. When the show returned to Los Angeles for a new season in 1992, Moss went along with the show to the City of Angels. In 1999, she had what is arguably the biggest role in her acting career, when she was cast as Trinity in the first installment of The Matrix trilogy, titled The Matrix.
