Charlotte Flair was born with the birth name Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr on April 5th, 1986 to parents Ric Flair and Elizabeth in Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S.A. She has a step sister and brother named Megan and David alongside a younger brother Ried who is said to have died in March 2013. Flair attended Providence High School where she played volleyball and landed the title of player of the year for the 2004/2005 season in addition to two state championship titles. After high school, she enrolled in Appalachian State University where she continued to play volleyball, however, she later transferred to North Carolina State University to continue her education graduating in 2008 with a B.sc in Public Relations.

Flair signed with WWE in May 2012 where she was worked on by trainers like Lodi and Sara Del Rey and appeared in her first match aired on tv in July 2013 with the ring name Charlotte Flair. That same year, she formed an alliance with the team The BFF creating her new identity in the group as the ‘villainess’ joining forces with Sasha Banks and Summer Rae. The next year, she won for the first time the title of NXT Women’s Champion when she defeated wrestler Natalya at the NXT Takeover.
