This has certainly been the case of Cheryl Howard – an actress and writer most known as the wife of Ron Howard – a renowned actor and filmmaker. On the 23rd of December 1953 in Glendale, California, Vivian Schmid and Charles Alley welcomed their daughter Cheryl Gay Alley to the world. Not much is known about her childhood in regards to the schools she received her early education, however, she was known to be very adventurous as a child as she learned how to operate guns at the age of 5 and was able to raise wild animals such as skinks and monkeys at home.

Howard later went on to attend California State University at Northridge where she completed the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. It is said that during her time as an undergraduate, she discovered her excellent writing ability and thus went ahead to take a two-year writing fellowship from the American Film Institute after graduating from college. She would then later go ahead to earn a Masters of Fine Arts degree in screenwriting.

In 1977, Cheryl Howard made her first appearance in a film, although in an uncredited role, playing a reporter in the film Grand Theft Auto (1977). In the 1980s, she continued to make uncredited appearances in different films; Night Shift (1982), Splash (1984), and Willow (1988). This continued into the 1990s and 2000s as she further appeared in The Paper (1994), Apollo 13 (1995), Ransom (1996), Edtv (1999), The Da Vinci Code (2006), and Angels & Demons (2009).

Sometime in the mid-90s when she visited Central Asia, Cheryl was inspired to write her first book titled “In the Face of Jinn: A Novel”. The story is about two sisters who went to India in order to buy silk for their business with one of them disappearing mysteriously. Other books she has gone ahead to write include “Grandma, Tell Me a Story: Children’s Devotional Stories from the Farm” in 2014 and “Heart & Desire” in 2015.

On the 7th of June, 1975, Cheryl Howard exchanged vows with her high school sweetheart, filmmaker, and actor Ron Howard. The two have gone ahead to welcome four children to the world; three daughters named Bryce Dallas Howard, Jocelyn Carlyle, Paige Howard, and their brother Reed Cross.

The couple’s first child, Bryce, who was born March 2, 1981, followed in her parents’ footsteps to have a career in the film industry. She is an actor who has appeared in films like The Village (2004), Lady in the Water (2006), As You Like It (2006) where her performance earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination, and Spider-Man 3 (2007). In 2006, she added writer and director to her titles as she co-wrote and directed the short film Orchids.

Not much is known about Jocelyn, who was born on February 5, 1985, but her twin sister Paige is also an actress. She graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and has appeared in films like Adventureland (2009) and The Employer (2013).

As mentioned above, Cheryl Howard was born to Vivian Schmid and Charles Alley. Not much is known about her mother in regards to what she did for a living but her father, on the other hand, was a chemical and aerospace engineer, marksman, and amateur astronomer.

Her father was said to have been adventurous, a trait he was able to pass on to his daughter. He was notably the first Caucasian to climb atop Mt. Fujiama during winter and was said to be the oldest competitive aerobatic pilot in the world at the time of his demise.
