Colleen “CoCo” Vandeweghe was born on December 6, 1991, in New York to Tauna Vandeweghe and Robert Mullarkey. She was raised alongside an older brother Beau with whom she commenced playing tennis when she was an eleven-year-old. As a junior player, Vandeweghe did not participate in many tournaments, however, she was able to win the 2008 US Open girls’ singles tournament having entered the tournament with a wildcard.
