Cody Carson is an American musician known for his interest in rock music which prompted him to start the Set It Off band. He is multi-talented in the art of music as he is not only a vocalist but also skilled at playing several musical instruments. Cody Carson is an American music artist who hails from Tampa, Florida where he was born on January 9, 1989. He was brought up at his place of birth where he also attended a public high school. From an early age, Cody knew he had a strong passion for music, and this led him to search for a school where he would receive adequate training. He eventually landed at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music located at Ohio and there he studied Orchestral Arts. However, he was not able to complete his studies as his music gigs and the band he joined took most of his time.

Music Career

At age 11 Cody was privileged to learn how to play the clarinet and since his father was into the orchestra music, it was easy for him to pick a thing or two at a tender age. However, his music preference changed to rock music which did not go down well with his family as they had no interest in that direction. He took a bold step, sidelining his family’s point of view to seek where to perform and gradually, opportunities started springing forth.

The first of this kind came in his first year in college and it was with a popular band. His outstanding performance did not go unnoticed coupled with the fact that the show made waves. This encouraged Cody to push more into the world of rock music and he decided to revive a band which he and a high school friend, Dan Clermont had started.

With the help of Clermont, they had great ideas to bring the band back to life but they saw the need for extra hands and got 2 other passionate rock artists- Austin Kerr and Zack DeWall to join their crew. The four put heads together for the rebirth of Set It Off band and within the same period, Cody Carson went further to create a YouTube channel for the group which was named RockManiac89. They gradually started getting attention and coupled with the fact that Cody had performed in a number of places, it was easy for his fans to start liking his new band.

Set It Off dropped its debut EP on October 31st, 2008 titled ‘Baby, You Don’t Tripajaharda’ and the next year, they released ‘Calm Before the Storm’ on May 12th, 2009. It was during this time that Cody Carson dropped out of college. They also came up with a couple of other songs in 2010 like Hush Hush, Together Forever and ‘@Reply’ before finally landing a deal with Equal Vision Records in 2011. This paved the way for them to release their debut album titled ‘Horrible Kids’ which was a major breakthrough as the album was named on iTunes list of 100 Alternative Albums.

Other EPs released by Cody and his band include ‘Cinematics’ which was released in 2012, ‘Duality: Stories Unplugged’ in 2014 – which got a spot on the Billboard Chart of top 100 and the album ‘Upside Down’ which was released in 2016. The group later went on to sign a deal with Fearless Records in 2018 and they have released a couple of songs with the label and even went on a world tour with them which further established their name in the industry.

As mentioned earlier, Cody Carson comes from a home where his dad, James Charles Carson was into Ochestrey but aside from this fact, no other information has been revealed about his identity. Moreso the singer has not talked about his mother and sister named Cambia.

It was also gathered that the musician lost his father to mouth cancer during the same period his band dropped their first EP in 2008. Cody tried to get to Florida where his father was being treated but before he got there, James Cody had died.
