Colin Farrell’s Biography

Born on 31 May 1976 in Castleknock, Dublin, Ireland, Colin James Farrell hails from a family of athletes. His father, Eamon Farrell, was a professional footballer who played for Shamrock Rovers FC. His uncle, Tommy Farrell, also played football for the same club.

Colin Farrell’s siblings include an older brother named Eamon, Jr. and two younger sisters Claudine and Catherine. Their mother is Rita (née Monaghan).

During his early years, Colin had thought he’d follow in his father’s path but he felt more drawn to entertainment. He unsuccessfully tried out for the Irish boy band Boyzone before Henry Thomas’ performance in 1982’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial inspired him to consider acting. Farrell went to the Gaiety School of Acting but upon receiving his first professional gig in BBC drama Ballykissangel, he dropped out.

Farrell’s second son, Henry Tadeusz, born on 9 October 2009 is from his relationship with Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś.
