Dan Quinn is one of the most celebrated coaches in the National Football League (NFL). Currently serving as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, Dan has coached some of the brightest minds and best players in the football business. He was the defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks and led them to two Super Bowls for which they won one (Super Bowl XLVIII).

Quinn played college football at Salisbury University, Maryland previously Salisbury State from 1990 to 1993 as a defensive lineman. After college, he settled for the job of a coach rather than playing professional football.

Dan Quinn’s Bio

He was born in Morristown, New Jersey on the 11th of September 1970 as Daniel Patrick Quinn. He is the youngest of the six children born to his parents Jim and Sue Quinn. Dan has a sister (Maribeth) and four brothers ( Peter, Mike, Tim, and Brian).

Quinn attended Morristown High School, Morristown, where he played high school football. He didn’t get much scholarship offers, thus, he settled for Salisbury University, Maryland which was previously Salisbury State, and played on the school team as a defensive lineman. starting all the games in those four years, he also captained the team.

Dan was also good at track and field events and represented his school in the 1994 NCAA track championships where he broke a hammer throw of 168.8 feet and was named All Mason-Dixon for that year. He is also a recipient of the Bobby Richards award. In 2005, Dan Quinn was inducted into the Salisbury University athletics Hall of Fame.

NFL Coaching Career

After college, Quinn chose to go into coaching and the first team he coached was the college of William & Mary football team (William & Mary Tribe). He coached the team’s defensive line for a season before coaching the Virginia Military Institute football team for another season.

From 1996 to 2000, Dan coached Hofstra football team. He first began as a defensive line before he was promoted to the position of a defensive coordinator in 2000. Hofstra ended its seventy-two-year-old football program in 2009.

He began his NFL coaching career in 2001 with the San Francisco 49ers as their defensive quality control coach. After two years with the 49ers, he was made defensive line coach and spent another two seasons with the franchise before moving over to the Miami Dolphins where he served in the same capacity before leaving in 2006.

Dan served with the New York Jet between 2007-2008 before joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2009. He would later leave the Seahawks to serve as a defensive coordinator for the Florida Gators during the 2011/2012 season and return to the Seahawks in 2013 to replace Gus Bradley, who left Seahawks for Jacksonville Jaguars. At the end of the 2012 season, Dan Quinn was named the year’s finalist for the Broyles Award, which was annually given to the country’s top assistant coach.

In his first season as Seattle Seahawks ‘s defensive coordinator, the team led the league in points, yards, and takeaways and became the first team to accomplish that feat after the Chicago Bears. The Seahawks led the league in fewest allowed, fewest yards allowed, and takeaways with 231, 4,378, and 39, respectively, to become the first team since 1985. That same year,  the Seahawk defeated the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl XLVIII.

In February 2015 he agreed to become the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons. That season, the Falcons ended with 8–8 and missed the playoffs. The following season, they made an 11–5 record that earned them the NFC South. The falcon also went on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 36–20, to land a ticket to the NFC Championship for the 4th time in the history of the franchise.

In 2017 the Atlanta Falcons won the NFC Championship after defeating the Green Bay Packers. They made it to Super Bowl LI but lost the game in an overtime by a score of 34–28.

Most NFL coach salaries are not something that is officially disclosed the way those of players are, so the best you can find is an estimation which is based on sources that actually report approximated contracts. Thus, based on these estimations, the Falcon coach earns $4,500,000 in a year, compensations included.

Quinn has been married to Stacey Quinn for about two decades. There are no details if the couple has any kids together, that is really not an issue what matters is that they have been together for so long, and still loves each other so much.

Dan Quinn has over a decade old NFL coaching experience.

Dan and Stacey Quinn founded a foundation called the Quinn’s Corps. The foundation is a non-profit foundation that supports military families and helps veterans.

The foundation gives out free meals, free tickets, and parking to military families on game days.

They also make donations to Fisher House (a bunch of houses located in the Seattle area where veteran families can come in stay for free while a member of their family is receiving treatment).
