Danny Kanell is a former American professional football player currently working with Fox Sports 1, America’s sports-oriented cable and satellite television channel, and with SiriusXM satellite radio.

Danny whose original name is Daniel Kanell was once a professional Football quarterback in Arena Football League and National Football League and had worked with ESPN as its analyst and host of the ‘Russillo & Kanell’ Show.

Danny was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the United States on November 21, 1973, to his father Dane Kanell, and mother Diane Kanell. His siblings include Daryl, Debbie, and Dana.

The White American attended Florida State University where he played 35 games and accomplished 62.2% of his 851 pass attempts. He ended his last senior season at Florida State with the “Honorable Mention” rundown of All-Americans title. Danny’s career as a football player started in his high school days as a junior, leading Westminster Academy to a 12-1 record and state championship. His professional career in this kind of sports, however, started after joining Florida State University in 1992.

While at the university, Danny Kanell maintained his spot as the school’s team quarterback for four years and while he played football throughout college, he also played baseball for the Seminoles and was drafted by the New York Yankees after his round of Major League Baseball (MLB) draft in 1993.

Driven by his passion for football, he was eventually led to pursuing a career in the NFL although he returned to baseball in 2001 when he played in the minor leagues for the Atlantic League’s Newark Bears. Danny played at first base, third base, and designated hitter.

His commendable performances kept him as a sophomore. He was then moved to the New York Giants in the 4th round of the 1996 NFL Draft after which he made his NFL debut and performed excellently while playing for the Giants, leading them to the NFC Eastern division title.

Despite his performances in the field, Danny’s career wasn’t fetching him as much money as expected. In fact, his career as a football player began to dwindle from 2000 when he was cut by the Atlanta Falcons after he served as a backup to their oft-injured starting quarterback Chris Chandler. He played in Atlanta for two years and completed 99 of 200 attempted passes for a total of 1,117 yards, six touchdowns, and nine interceptions, as a Falcon.

Danny Kanell moved to the AFL New York Dragons team for the 2002 season. After a short time, he signed with the Colorado-based Denver Broncos where he made the roster as the third-string quarterback. The same year, the young football player Danny Kanell, announced his retirement and had since served as a football analyst for ESPN shows before moving to Fox Sports 1 after his contract with the former ended on April 26th, 2017.

Danny began his new job at Fox Sports 1 on August 28, 2017, as a college football analyst. While working at ESPN, as its color analyst for Friday Night college football games and college baseball, he was said to be receiving an estimated salary of  $95,000 before he joined the 100 staffers that were let go by the U.S.-based global cable and satellite sports television channel. Currently, his salary as a part-time game analyst is not yet known but his net worth is estimated at $2 million which he garnered from his previous career in both the Arena Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL).

Despite all performances as the New York Giants quarterback, Danny was only making $216,000, which was the minimum salary of the league. but shortly after that, he signed a three-year contract, worth $9.5 million with the Giants. However, his performance continued to decline to the extent that the Giants had to replace him with Kerry Collins.
