The daughter of Zachary Samuel Norville (father) and Merle O. Norville (mother), the American businesswoman was born on the 8th of August 1958, in Dalton, Georgia, in the U.S. Her full name is Deborah Anne Norville. After completing her high school education, Deborah was admitted into the University of Georgia to study journalism. Her initial goal was to study law but after she saw the behind-the-scenes work of the CBS TV production crew at the 1976 America’s Junior Miss pageant, she switched her interest to journalism. The businesswoman had represented Georgia in the beauty contest – that was after she emerged the winner of her town’s beauty contest for high school senior girls called Junior Miss contest in the year 1999.
Upon completing her studies at Georgia, Anne passed out with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism (with summa cum with a perfect 4.0-grade point). The journalist also received a mention as a First Honor Graduate and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. During her years in college, Norville was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority as well as an official on the Main Court of the University’s Student Judiciary.
It was also while she was at Georgia University that she launched her TV career after she bagged an internship through Georgia Public Television. She spearheaded a nightly program on the Georgia General Assembly called The Lawmakers, after which she received a summer internship from an executive of WAGA-TV in Atlanta, who discovered her on one of the days she was on duty. She eventually became a full-time reporter for WAGA-TV after graduation, from where she joined WMAQ-TV as a reporter and later anchor in 1982. After an impressive stint with the firm, Deborah began anchoring NBC News at Sunrise at NBC, New York, in January 1987.
In May 1991, Anne began working as the host of a prime-time program on ABC TalkRadio Networks from her homes in Long Island and New York. The broadcast, which was captioned: The Deborah Norville Show: From Her Home to Yours aired from September 1991 to October 1992, when she decided to resume her TV career with CBS News. During her stint as CBS News correspondent, she received her second Emmy award for reporting for Street Stories and 48 Hours and covering the Mississippi floods of 1994.
