Derick Dillard (Jill Duggar Dillard’s Husband) – Bio, Age, Mom, Net Worth

For those who have faithfully followed the TLC show 19 Kids and Still Counting and later Counting On, Derick Dillard is not one to be considered a stranger. He is famous for being the better half of Jill Duggar who was first introduced to fans back in 2014 when the two began dating.

More than just as Jill’s husband, he has come to be known for the many controversies he is never tired of courting both on social media and on the show that some may feel he might have as well survived as a drama all by himself.

Derick Dillard Biography (Age)

It was on March 9, 1989, that Derick Dillard was born to Rick Dillard and Cathy Bynum in the United States. He was brought up In Rogers, AR. in a Christian family together with his younger brother Dan Dillard.

He obtained a Business Administration, Accounting, and Economics degree from Oklahoma State University which was also attended by both of his parents. When His father was there, he played the school’s mascot, Pistol Pete. Because of that, Derick Dillard tried out to have the role in 2008 but failed. He tried again in 2009 and this time around, he became successful.

After his education, Dillard moved to Nepal where he worked as a volunteer. He also worked in other parts of South Asia before finally returning after two years.

His next work was as a tax analyst for Walmart, a job that he would have for a year before finally leaving in 2015. When he claimed that he left his job at Walmart and had accepted another job, many believed that he did not leave on his own but was fired. The speculation was laid to rest by a Walmart spokesman who revealed that Derick actually left on his own.

He was said to have left so as to start his own ministry, the Dillard Family Ministries which did not last very long before it folded. He would later become famous when he first started appearing on the show 19 Kids and Still Counting as Jill Duggar’s lover and then later, as her husband in 2014.

Unfortunately, the show came to an unexpected end but then, like others on the previous reality show, he appeared on Counting On. Nonetheless, he got himself ousted from the show in 2017 for his many controversial views and activities. He was later joined by his wife, Jill Duggar Dillard.

His Wife

With millions of love stories out there, hardly would one come across one in which it is the girl’s father that introduced her to her lover. In the case of Derick and Jill, they first met each other after they were introduced by Jill’s father, Jim Bob.

While he was on missionary work in Nepal, Bob believed that Derick and his daughter might be able to get something working between them and so he connected them. When they began the relationship anew, they communicated via Skype and text. According to Jill who later joined them in Nepal, she was already in love with the man who later became her husband even before they met physically.

The two got married in 2014 and are now blessed with two children – Samuel Scott Dillard and Israel David Dillard. In April 2019, there were reports that he was banned from the family compound of his wife and then it was later rumored that the two are on their way to a separation, a rumor that was heightened by his absence from the birthday of his son.

Mom and Dad

Derick’s father was a police officer who was described by his son as the greatest man ever. According to him, it was his father who spent his life protecting the public that introduced him to Jesus Christ.

Over a decade ago in 2008, Dillard lost his father to a heart attack. The man was 50 years old at the time while his son who was 19 was still a freshman at the Oklahoma State University.

The next heartache that befell him came in 2014, only a few weeks after he got engaged to Duggar. He received the shocking news that his mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Fortunately for the family, Cathy Byrum came out top of it and more than five years later, she still remains cancer free.

Derick Dillard’s Net Worth

Although Derick Dillard has made fame thanks to his appearance on a couple of reality TV shows, that doesn’t make him a man with fortune automatically. He has a net worth that is speculated to be $150,000.

He once claimed that TLC had never paid him a penny for being on 19 and Still Counting and Counting On. After the birth of his first child, he claimed that even though TLC made some money, the network did not foot the bills. This is even as it was claimed that he and his wife were making as much as between $25 to $40 thousand. However, in the deleted tweet, he maintained that they were mostly more of volunteers.
