Devin was born as Devin Armani Booker in Grand Rapid, Michigan on 13th October 1996. The youngster came from Puerto Rican, American, and Mexican ethnic backgrounds and he possesses American nationality. Booker was thought the basics of the game by his father, Melvin Booker, who also played college basketball for the University of Missouri’s basketball team.
Booker attended Grandville High School situated in Michigan after his freshman season. He moved to Mississippi where he attended Moss Point High School, Mississippi. There, he completed his high school career with the Moss basketball team. He won the Mississippi Player of the Year Award after averaging 22.8 points per game.
During his junior year in 2013, Booker was crowned Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year; as well as the Sun Herald Best Player of the Year for his outstanding performance. While playing for the Kentucky Wildcats, Booker earned All-SEC Second Team, SEC All-Freshman; as well as SEC Sixth Man of the Year honors after he averaged 2.0 rebounds and 10 points per game in the 2014/15 season. Following an impressive freshman season, Booker announced he would forgo the rest of his college career while declaring for the NBA Draft of 2015.
During the draft, Booker was picked by the Phoenix Suns as the 13th overall player to be selected in the draft. Upon signing his rookie contract; the star player joined the Suns for the NBA Summer League where he made a strong impression with an average of 4.9 rebounds and 15.3 points per game.
Making his first professional appearance for the Suns during the 2015/16 NBA regular season, Booker made history as the first player of 18 years to appear in the league. During his rookie season, the shooting guard scored his season-high of 21 points in their game against the Sacramento Kings in January 2016. He also became the youngest player to record a double-double in the NBA after LeBron James and others. At the end of his rookie season, Devin Booker made 2.5 rebounds and 13 points per game while he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team.
The following season, Booker improved significantly in his game as he averaged 3.2 rebounds and 22.1 points per game. Amazingly, he had his best performance in March 2017, when he scored 70 points in a game. He became one of the six players in NBA history and the youngest player to attain such a feat in a season.
During the 2017/18 regular season, Devin Booker continued making history in the NBA. He became the third-youngest player to record at least 4,000 career points with others as LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Devin finished the season averaging 4.5 rebounds and 24.9 points per game. He also participated in the NBA Three-pointing shooting contest where he triumphed over Tobias Harris and Klay Thompson to clinch victory in competition.
Booker further penned a five-year contract extension worth $158 million with the Suns on 7th July 2018.
