Dexter Fowler Biography

Dexter Fowler was born on March 22, 1986. His full names are William Dexter Fowler and his birthplace is the great city of Atlanta, Georgia. During his High school days, he attended Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. While most of his friends focused on other sports such as basketball and soccer, Dexter’s interests always lay with baseball. As early as his high school days, Fowler attracted local attention when he hit .457 with 14 home runs in 105 at-bats.

When it was time to attend college, Fowler had to decide between baseball and college. He chose baseball, rejecting both Harvard and the University of Miami in the process. After having actually committed to Miami, the lure of major league baseball proved too strong. He is an Olympic bronze medalist from his exploits at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics. He has previously in his career, played for teams like the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, and Chicago Cubs. Dexter Fowler currently plays for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Dexter spent five memorable years at the Colorado Rockies between 2008 and 2013. On September 2, 2008, Dexter Fowler was called up to the Major Leagues for the first time in his career and his fine debut performance was crowned with a 6–5 extra innings home victory over the San Francisco Giants.

Dexter Fowler jointly holds a Colorado Rockie record for stealing five bases against the San Diego Padres in a 12-7 victory. In the 2010 season, he recorded 439 at-bats, six home runs, 73 runs scored, and 114 total base hits.

On January 19, 2015, Dexter arrived at the Chicago Cubs in a deal that saw Luis Valbuena and Dan Straily move in opposite directions, during his one year with the Cubs, he helped guide them into the postseason for the first time after 7 years.

In December 2016, Dexter Fowler signed a lucrative five-year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals worth within the region of $82.5 million.

He made a piece of history alongside some of his teammates whilst he was playing for the Chicago Cubs. On October 25, 2016, along with teammates Jason Heyward, Addison Russell, and Carl Edwards Jr., Dexter Fowler and his mates became the first African-Americans to play for the Cubs in a World Series game.

Dexter Fowler also holds the record of the first African- American to appear and to bat in the World Series for the Cubs, he and Russell are the first African-Americans to start for the Cubs in a World Series.

Family, Wife

He is a good ballplayer for his baseball team and it is good to know that Dexter Fowler did not strike out when it came to choosing the one he would spend the rest of his days with. The pair were married in 2012 and have been together ever since. Her full name is Darya Aliya Baghbani Fowler and what you probably did not know is that she is from Iran. When the President’s travel ban policy was at its peak, she and Dexter were prevented from being able to visit family in Iran and Dexter had an opinion about it. Though generally a quite modest and non-aggressive figure, Dexter was critical of the ban.

Daughter, Son

In February 2014, they gave birth to their first child Naya Iman Fowler (daughter). Naya has often been touted as the most adorable child in the MLB. If you follow either Dexter or Aliya on social media, you might have been privileged enough to behold such glorious cuteness. On a few occasions, he posts videos of her reaction to seeing Daddy appear on the TV screen. It is really a cute sight to behold.

Dexter doesn’t have a son yet but by July 2018, he will be the proud father of yet another baby girl. Fingers crossed, we look forward to a baby as cute as her older sister Naya.

Height

Dexter Fowler stands at an impressive height of 1.96m and weighs in at 88kg. He also has a good bodybuild befitting of an athlete.
