Celebrity breakup is something many of us have become accustomed to. It has almost become normalcy in the entertainment industry that many just sit around waiting for break-up news as soon as it is established that certain celebrities have become an item. However, not many were expecting that Dominic Sherwood and Sarah Hyland’s relationship of two and a half years would end just like that.
In fact, I was shocked when the news first broke out online and I believe many of you were equally stunned. I mean let’s face it, Dominic and Sarah looked so perfect together that many (well, that includes me, unfortunately) expected a happy ending where the couple lived happily ever after but sadly that is not the case now.

Dominic Sherwood And Sarah Hyland’s Relationship
Sherwood and Hyland first met in 2014 at the set of Vampire Academy, a comedy horror film they both starred in. The pair made their relationship public in March 2015 after a photo of them kissing at a Lakers game in Los Angeles found its way online. They were so much in love and looked perfect together.
In February 2017, they celebrated two years together, and to mark the occasion, Hyland took to Instagram to celebrate the love of her life, she wrote: “Happy 2 years to my #1 @domsherwood ❤.” In an interview with ET in August 2016, Hyland revealed that the key to her relationship with Dominic Sherwood is communication saying she thinks communication is really beautiful and is the key to any relationship.
Hyland wasn’t the only one in love, Sherwood was equally in love as he was singing her praises all the time. Shortly after their second anniversary together, the Shadowhunters star told ET in an exclusive interview that Sarah makes him want to be a better version of himself, and that is what he loved most about her.
In another chat with ET a few months later, Dominic Sherwood again praised Sarah, this time for being strong and standing her ground against body shamers. The couple were just so in love and can’t help gushing out about each other but this only begs the question ‘what went wrong?.
Their Split: Everything You Need To Know
For a couple who appeared perfect together, the news of their split came as a shock to many. For crying out loud they had just celebrated two years of being together and were spotted almost everywhere together, who would have thought they would be ending it so soon.
However, for anyone who has closely followed the couple’s love life via their social media accounts, the news of their split wouldn’t totally be a surprise as the signs that things were not actually okay with their relationship began showing a few months after their two years anniversary.
The couple usually posted pictures of each on their respective Instagrams almost on a daily basis, but they stopped posting anything about each other since April; about three months before the news of their split made headlines in August 2017.
About why the couple ended their relationship, Entertainment Tonight reported that Sarah was the one who broke up with her Vampire Academy co-star. A source had told the entertainment magazine that the two remain friends despite their breakup. The actual reason for their split has not been revealed and fans are still trying to it piece together. Until then, guess we all have to come to terms with the reality of the split.
This relationship was Hyland’s first after breaking up with Matt Prokop in 2014. She had dated Prokop for five years. After the break-up, she filed for a restraining order against him that year claiming he tried to choke her and threatened to burn down her house.

The pair has moved on with their lives trying to find love with other people. Sarah Hyland found love again with Bachelor In Paradise star Wells Adams. They began dating in October 2017 after Adams reportedly slid into Sarah’s DMs. The couple officially moved in together in August 2018.
