Winty Earl Thomas III is a well-known American football free safety plying his trade at the National football league (NFL) for the Washington Seattle Seahawks. Since he joined the league, Earl has distinguished himself for his defensive instincts and commitment to teamwork. Thomas is also the last existing founding member of the Legion of Boom.

Earl was born on the 7th of May in 1989 in a town called Orange. His parents were Debbie and Earl Snr. In 1987, two years before his birth, Earl’s mother was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was told by the doctors she would not be able to have any children. The doctors also told her she had just six months to live if she didn’t undergo a hysterectomy to remove the lymph nodes. After taking several tests, when she was ready to finally go under the knife, the last round of tests threw up a surprise – the cancer was gone!
She didn’t have to undergo any chemotherapy, surgery or radiation. According to her, she didn’t see it much as a miracle but rather saw it as a blessing. The real miracle did come a year later when she took in with Earl and delivered him in 1989.
As a young child, his father soon noticed the immense ability his son had in playing football. Earl was once quoted to have said that the more he worked at the game he loved, the more skills he developed.
Due to the circumstances of his birth, over the course of his career, he has earned various nicknames but his mother still calls him her “miracle baby”. Thomas attended West Orange-Stark High School in Orange, Texas, where he was the star of the High School football team – West Orange-Stark Mustangs. Aside from his exploits on the football field, Thomas was also an elite member of the school’s track and field team. His performances on the football field led to his rating as a four-star by Rivals.com. A good number of other platforms ranked him as one of the best athletes among his peers.
After his high school days, Thomas gained admission into the University of Texas at Austin and immediately became a major star. He played for the Texas Longhorns football team between 2007 and 2009 under the tutelage of head coach Mack Brown.
Thomas alluded to the fact that at some point in his college career, he began feeling a little bit like a big fish in a small pond and decided to look for an arena-worthy of his talents. As such, on the 8th of January, 2010, he released a statement through the University’s site, specifying that he will be forgoing the rest of his time with the University to enter the 2010 NFL Draft.
Earl Thomas made a huge impression during the draft in Indianapolis where he completed most of his drills but chose to skip some. On the 31st of March in 2010 at the Texas pro day, he remarkably improved on his drills but unfortunately sustained a hamstring injury during his workout and was no longer able to complete his entire performance. After he was ranked favorably as the top safety by most of the NFL analysts, he was eventually selected by his present club, the Seattle Seahawks as 14 overall in the first round. With Thomas being just 20 at that time, he became one of the youngest players that got drafted.

Thomas got married to his wife Nina Thomas who is the mother of his daughter named Kaleigh Rose Thomas. His wife Nina was born and raised in Nola but as a result of hurricane Katrina, moved to Orange, TX.
Nina and Thomas went to the same High school and began dating in their junior year but had to split when Thomas went off to college in Texas while she went to the community college in Austin.
