Eddie George was always going to be a first-round selection in the 1996 NFL Draft and observers were not disappointed. He was selected by the Houston Oilers as the 14th overall pick in the first round of the draft. He went straight to the business as a starting running back and never missed a single game for the Houston Oilers (now called the Tennessee Titans) in his rookie season. His performance earned him the NFL Rookie of the Year and the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year gongs. However, after eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Eddie George left the team in 2004 when he refused to take a pay cut. He joined Dallas Cowboys on a one-year contract and was backup running back to rookie Julius Jones, but he was never able to re-enact his form with the Titans and so he announced his retirement in 2006 at the age of 31.

After his football career, Eddie George delved into acting. His first shot came in 2016 when he appeared on the Broadway musical Chicago. He played the character of Billy Flynn, a criminal lawyer who is hired by a housewife (Roxie Hart) as her defense attorney as she stands trial for murder.
