She is an actress, model and presenter best known for her role as Isabelle Lightwood in the American drama series Shadowhunters. Emeraude Toubi – Biography, Age, Ethnicity
Emeraude Toubia is an American with Lebanese and Mexican heritage. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on March 1, 1989, as the only child to a Lebanese father and a Mexican mother. Her father was a Lebanese-American born in the United States to Lebanese parents from Koura District, Lebanon. Her mother Mirta Sonia, on the other hand, was born to Mexican parents in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, the same location she was raised.
Shortly after Toubia was born, her parents moved back to the United States, Brownsville, Texas, to be precise, where she spent her childhood years. She grew up in Texas and schooled there as well. She completed her high school education at Homer Hanna High School in Brownsville, Texas. The actress has since left Texas and now resides in Los Angeles, California.
Her Career
Growing up, one would have easily predicted that Emeraude Toubia was meant for great things as she exhibited the signs of stardom. She started training to dance when she was just an infant, learning dance techniques like classical ballet, belly dance, flamenco and lyrical dance. In her early teenage years, Toubia began to develop an interest in stage performance and it led her to compete at several beauty pageants. As a true beauty that she is, she was crowned the winner of Miss South Texas, Miss Rio Grande Valley America and Miss Teen Brownsville.
Not many know that the star actress made her first ever screen appearance in 1999. She was only ten years old when she was cast in the Televisa’s kid’s program El Mundode losNiños. Her appearance on the show was short and did not earn her much recognition. Toubia, however, began to achieve fame when she was chosen to contest in the second season of Nuestra Belleza Latina. At the pageantry show, she finished as the first runner up. She has since featured in a host of commercials for popular brands such as AT&T, Sony, Garnier, Maybelline and J.C. Penney.
Toubia continued to do modelling jobs before eventually venturing into acting. In 2009, she entered the second season of Model Latina and finished in fifth place at the end of the show. The following year, she contested in Miss Texas USA 2010 and she finished as a semifinalist.
Going into presenting, Emeraude Toubia worked as a presenter between 2011 and 2013 for a number of entertainment shows on the popular network NBC Universo. Some of the shows she covered included The Arena, Mun2pop and 18 &Over. She was also a co-host at the 2013 Billboard Latin Music Awards red carpet special.
Back in 2010, Toubia starred as a receptionist in an episode of Aurora. Her official screen debut, however, came three years later when she starred as Elizabeth in the Nickelodeon Latin American Show 11-11: En mi Cuadra-naduCuadra.She starred in 75 episodes of the TV show.
In 2014, Emeraude Toubia began to star as Dulce Rincon in the telenovela Cosita Linda. Starring in 96 episodes of the series. In the following year, she starred in yet another telenovela, as Stephanie Karma in 29 episodes of Voltea pa’ queteemamores. Still, in 2015, Toubia starred in the low budget film Tattooed Love as Esmeralda.
She then hit real fame in her acting career when she began to play the main role in the ABC supernatural drama TV series Shadowhunters as Isabelle Lightwood. Her character in the series was well represented and it, in turn, earned her well-deserved recognition. She starred in the drama series from 2016 to its final season in 2019.
