7 Things You Didn’t Know About Emily Meade, The Leftovers Actress

1. Discovered at age 15

In 2004 when Emily Meade was attending the showing of Mea Creek, She was seen by the casting director of the show – Jennifer Vendetti who subsequently picked interest in her. Fast forward to 2 years later, Emily made her debut in the film The House is Burning where she played the role of Anne. It was a German drama film which was directed by Holger Ernst and had in its cast the likes of John Diehl, Julianna Michelle, Melissa Leo, and Robin Lord Taylor. At the Cannes Film Festival of 2006, the film was screened.

2. Rebellious Teen

Emilly was quite rebellious while growing up. She said “I definitely went through some dark teenage years. I wore black raccoon eyeliner every single day. I would be late to school if I didn’t have time to put my eyeliner on.”

3. Love for ‘I Love Lucy’

Growin up and like most other young girls her age, Emily Meade had a penchant for the television series I Love You. She disclosed that it was her love for this series that spurred her interest in acting.

4. Emily Can Sing

Other than acting, she can also sing. In fact, she started singing from an early age and even went ahead to win a prize in 1997 when she participated in Zecchino d’Oro an Italian song contest. She performed the song Up, Over Through and Under which won her the Zecchino d’Argento prize. Well, since this spectacular and award-winning performance of hers, she has not been actively involved in singing again. However, it is good to know that she is also a good singer in addition to being a talented actress.

5. She Wants to Write and Direct Movies

We are not done yet with the list of what she can do in addition to acting and singing. Emily Meade also wants to write and direct movies. She expressed this desire in an interview and made it known that she wants her career to progress to that. Being a talented actress who has done many movies, it should pretty be easier to transition into a movie director as her acting experience will come in helpful here.

6. The Duece

Contrary to what many people think, The Duece was not her first television series as you can see from the table we presented above. Before the series, she had many brief roles in several other series which include Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Fringe, Broadwalk Empire and Broad City. However, The Duece was her biggest and most recent television series which informs the reason why many people who didn’t know her before now think she is just starting off in television series. Her first TV series was in 2008.

7. Anti-Social Media

Before she acted in the film Nerve, Emily was somewhat averse to social media. She said “Before the film, I didn’t even have an Instagram,” she told us. “I was like a completely anti-Internet pagan. Everyone would try to explain to me why it’s an important piece of [the industry]. I was like, ‘No, no, no. I’m going to do it the old-fashioned way. I refuse.’”

However, she currently enjoys a huge fan base and following on social media.
