Eric Balfour was born with an innate desire to become an artist, however, he didn’t quite make up his mind to pursue an entertainment career for life until his twenties. Today, he is celebrated for the numerous roles he has executed to perfection, from Milo Pressman in Jack Bauer’s 24 to Duke Crocker in the supernatural series Haven and many others.

Eric Salter Balfour was born on the 24th of April 1977 in Los Angeles, California to Ashkenazi Jewish parents David Balfour and Sharon Balfour (née Salter). His ethnicity can be traced back to Native America, with traces of French and Canadian. He has a younger sister who is named Tori Balfour.

As a kid, Balfour’s family made frequent trips to the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, a non-profit retreat center, and intentional community. Eric’s family has no history of being involved with show business – his mom is a marriage and family counselor while his dad is a chiropractor which in plain English means one who is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

However, Eric from the age of 2 saw himself naturally gravitate towards entertainment. He once revealed that as a kid, he memorized the entire making of Thriller.
