His may be a slightly dysfunctional lineage, but there is no doubt that boxing is in their blood. His father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., was a former welterweight contender who fought Hall of Famer Sugar Ray Leonard and his uncles, were both professional boxers. Despite this, Floyd Mayweather’s height in the boxing industry came as a result of his good old hard work.
He didn’t have it easy as a child, but in between having a convict for a father and a drug addict for a mother, he managed to see his dream through and turn a bad situation into a dream come true. The retired boxer, who competed from 1996 to 2015, is currently a boxing promoter with tons of feathers in his cap.
