On May 14, 1983, Frank Gore’s birth was announced and celebrated in Miami, Florida by his parents one of whom we learned is Liz Gore. He would then grow up in Coconut Grove, Florida where he attended Coral Gables High School and performed excellently in the school’s football team as an indispensable running back.

As if knowing exactly what the future held in stock for him, and what he had to do to unlock them, Frank began setting and breaking his own record in high school notably; a then-career-high 293 yards with 2 touchdowns on 10 carries which he set in a game against the Miami Northwestern High School and subsequently broke with 319 yards and 6 touchdowns on 13 carries in his next game. By the end of his senior year in high school, Frank Gore was already a top prospect and he chose to study at the Univerity of Miami on scholarship so he could be near home.

Frank began playing for the Miami Hurricanes football team in 2011 on September 1 showing off an impressive performance against Penn State University. He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury on his left knee in 2002 but came back from the injury for the 2003 season where he saw lots of footballing action with 89 carries for 468 yards and four touchdowns. His 2004 season was in like manner with 25 passes caught for 985 yards which meant and an average of 9.8 avg, he returned two kickoffs for 48 yards and recorded 5 tackles against special teams.

Frank Gore entered the NFL in the 2005 NFL Draft with the San Francisco 49ers as the 65th overall pick in the draft. That same year, he signed a three-year contract and was the 6th running back to be selected, the 3rd out of 5 from his college that made it into the NFL.

In 2005, Gore’s rookie season marked the first time a rookie would lead the team rushing with 608 yards. This record broke that which was previously set by Dexter Carter in 1990 with 460 yards. He improved the more in the 2006 season under the aegis of then-offensive coordinator Norv Turner and was subsequently named to the NFC Pro Bowl team.

His improved form and indispensable place in the team saw him get a contract extension in the 2007 season which would see him through 2011. Gore signed a $28 million four-year contract on March 28, 2007, with a determination to break and set a new record for the most rushing in a single season. His target was 2, 200 yards. He had his career day in a game against the Seattle Seahawks when he rushed for 206 yards averaging 12.8 yards including a 79- and an 80-yard touchdown run. This made Gore the second player in the NFL to do so.

Frank Gore got another contract extension in 2011 which was worth $25.9 million for three years. He kept on playing with the San Francisco 49ers till the end of his contract in 2014.

His next team became the Indianapolis Colts who he committed to for a $12 million contract that had $8.5 million of the sum guaranteed. Gore played with them from the 2015 season through 2017 when he finished his last season with 961 rushing yards which brought his total career rushing yards to 14,026.
