In the film industry, it takes only one career-defining role in a movie to launch one into stardom. This is true for Gale Harold who starred as a gay guy named Brain Kinney in the TV series Queer as Folk which aired between 2000 to 2005.
Undoubtedly, the series set the actor on the road to stardom and went a long way in fast-tracking his rise in Hollywood.
Who Is Gale Harold?
Gale Harold is a native of Atlanta where he was born on July 10, 1969. He attended South West Dekalb High School and then The Lovett School where he completed his high school education. Thereafter, he proceeded to study at the American University in Washington based on a soccer scholarship and graduated with a Liberal Arts degree in romance literature. To further his education, he went on to study Photography at the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, California.
Gale started off working several menial jobs like being a bartender, waiter, and apprentice at a motorcycle mechanic workshop and with a construction company. It was a friend of his named Susan Landau, who is the daughter of the actor Martin Landau, that suggested he try his luck in acting around 1997 which he adhered to and made his theatrical debut in the show Me and My Friends as Bunny. His film debut was the movie 36Kin 2000 while his TV series debut was in the popular Queer as Folk also in 2000.

His Family
The Queer as the Folk star is said to be born to a father who was an engineer; his mother was a real estate agent. Not much is known about his family apart from the fact that his parents were devout Pentecostals who brought him up alongside his younger brother and older sister under strict religious guidance. However, at the age of 15, Gale stopped attending church activities.
Wife or Girlfriend, Is Harold Married?
The talented actor is currently single but the ugly breakup he had with ex-girlfriend Danielle Saklofsky has been making headlines. Their situation in totality buttresses the saying – “there is a thin line between love and hate”. The pair were apparently typical love birds but things went south when Gale got a restraining order against Danielle in 2014. If the duo was already having issues with their affairs, the restraining order sparked more enmity between them.
The actor revealed that his ex-girlfriend was aggressive and attempted to hit him with a jar that was filled with coins. Furthermore, there was an incident outside a restaurant where Danielle tried to physically abuse him, screaming she would never let him leave but would destroy him.
Danielle also had her side to the story in which she claimed that Gale had slapped her and forcefully pulled on her ponytail. The pair were said to even argue in court over Danielle’s body measurements which left many wondering if their breakup had nothing to do with physical attributes. The court finally ordered that they keep a 100 yards distance between each other whenever they happen to be in the same vicinity.
Prior to dating Danielle, the actor dated the beautiful TV actress Yara Martinez around 2011. Their breakup has been a mystery to many as nobody knows what happened to their love.
Is Gale Harold Gay?
The actor who is a staunch supporter of the LGBT community and whose stardom is linked to his character as a gay guy in Queer as Folk has been assumed to be gay on several quarters. However, this is not true. The actor made it clear in a video he recorded to encourage teenage gay guys to stay true to themselves that his reason for supporting the LGBT community is because he has very close people who are gay, he never stated that he was part of them.
Also, from the history of his past romantic relationships, his sexuality can be said to be straight as he has had affairs with only women. Gale Harold is, therefore, a full straight man whose interest is in women. Even though he is single at the moment, he has not made any indications of coming out as gay.
