Biography
Gemma Collins was born Gemma Clare Collins to Joan and Alan Collins on the 31st of January 1981 in Romford, London, England where she was raised. As a child, she attended Sylvia Young Theatre School, the same school which singer and the late Amy Winehouse attended.
After her graduating, Collins took a job as a used car saleswoman. She worked at her job for a while before she was able to catch her big break when Julie Childs, the mother of her schoolfriend Amy Childs, told the producers of The Only Way Is Essex (which her daughter was a part of), about Collins’ talent. The producer took Childs word and went ahead to film Collins and her friends at her home for two weeks, to see what her character was all about. After wrapping up the filming, Collins returned to her regular job, but after a week, her life turned around as she was hired to join the cast of The Only Way Is Essex.
The celebrity joined the show in its second series in 2011, and as things would pan out, her first scene was her selling a car. She went on to become one of the most entertaining characters on the show who was a known fiery and no-nonsense person. In the coming years, Collins began guest appearing on other shows like This Morning, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! She achieved the weight loss by mostly watching what she was eating, which largely included avoiding carbohydrates. She mentioned that most of her friends were not exactly happy with her because she skipped a lot of afternoon tea and meals but added that it was all for a better cause.
Boyfriend
Gemma Collins has been involved in a number of high-profile relationships ever since she came onto the scene. However, her most notable relationship was with her current partner and co-star on The Only Way Is Essex, James Argent.
Argent, who attended Trinity Catholic High School in Woodford, broke onto the scene in 2002 after winning The Kenny Award at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford, east London. He did a lot of singing as well as acting afterward, but it was not until he joined the cast of The Only Way Is Essex in 2010 that he became a popular personality. He joined the show with his then-girlfriend Lydia Bright, who he had begun dating in 2007. Their relationship lasted until 2012 and Argent moved on to Collins.
In 2015, however, when Bright returned to the show, Argent and Collins broke up, giving room for him to rekindle his love with his ex-girlfriend. The rekindled relationship lasted for just one year and Argent again went back to Collins. The lovebirds have since that time been together and are reportedly co-owners of a house in Italy.
