George Chakiris was an all-around entertainer in his heydays, he could dance, sing and act all at the same time, doing each so well as if it was the only thing he dedicated his life to mastering. The seasoned and retired entertainer – George Chakiris began life as a tot born to Steven and Zoe (née Anastasiadou) Chakiris on September 16, 1934, in Norwood, Ohio. He was raised by his parents who are Greek immigrants from Turkey. The nature of their job was such that they moved around frequently which meant that George attended various schools. At a time in his schooling age, he was sent to a high school in Tucson, Arizona, and Long Beach after which he enrolled in a college, Long Beach City College, Long Beach, California, United States. He, however, spent only one year in college as he dropped out and moved to Hollywood to pursue a career in dancing. On arrival at Hollywood, George Chakiris began working in the advertising unit of a departmental store to make ends meet while he went for his dancing classes at night.
Records have it that Chakiris made his film debut in the 1947 chorus of Song of Love and in the years that followed, he scored a couple of small roles in the chorus of various musical films. Some of his earliest works include Marilyn Monroe‘s 1947 Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend, The Great Caruso (1951), Call Me Madam, Second Chance, The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T. – all in 1953.
George went on to expand his acting portfolio and in the 1960s, he was earning as much as $100, 000 per movie he starred in. At this time, the films he starred in include West Side Story (1961) where he played the character of Bernardo Nuñez, The High Bright Sun (1965), Why Not Stay for Breakfast? (1979), Pale Blood (1990), Superboy (1989–1990), Human Target (1992), and Last of the Summer Wine (1996).
In the course of his almost 50 years career, George Chakiris won a couple of awards in recognition of his spectacular talent. The veteran dancer and actor won the Oscar — Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role (1961), Golden Globe — Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture (1962), The Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government “Contribution to the Arts” (1966), Dizzy Feet Foundation “Impact Award” (2015), Tremaine “Legendary Entertainer of the Year” (2017) and the Professional Dancers Society “Honoree”(2018).

To add to this, the pair were soon reported to be expecting a baby as the same source went on to report that when George Chakiris and his wife were out on a date and had a toast, the lady used a glass of water for the toast suggesting that she is with a baby as pregnant women are not supposed to take alcohol. All these were happening in the early months of 2019.
