Geri Halliwell is a singer, actress, and clothes designer who made a name for herself as a member of the pop girl group, Spice Girls as Ginger Spice. It was as Geraldine Estelle Halliwell that she was born on 6th August 1972 in Watford, Hertfordshire. She is of Spanish, English, and Swedish descent with a mother, Ana María Halliwell who is a Spaniard while her father was Laurence Francis Halliwell.
Growing up in North Watford, she had her education at Watford Grammar School for Girls and later, Camden School for Girls. Before her musical career, she did little jobs including as a dancer at a nightclub and as a television game show presenter for Let’s Make a Deal (Turkish version).
In 1994, she attended an audition that sought to form a girl group that would compete with other boy bands by Heart Management. Although she missed the first audition, she was selected alongside Mel B, Emma Bunton, Melanie C, and Victoria Beckham to form the Spice Girls after she attended the second audition and the group was later signed to Virgin Records.
In 1996, Spice Girls released its first single, “Wannabe” which was very successful. In the same year, Spice, which is the first album of the group was released, followed by Spiceworld in 1997.
After she left Spice Girls in 1998, Geri pursued a solo career that saw her releasing three albums; Schizophonic in 1999, Scream If You Wanna Go Faster in 2001, and Passion in 2005.
