Shannon Bream’s birth occurred two days to Christmas (December 23) in 1970. She was born as Shannon Noelle DePuy to Marie Norris who was a school teacher, and Ed DePuy who was once a County Commissioner. Her dad was also a US Marine and a police officer. Shannon’s birthplace is the city of Sanford in Florida, United States of America.
In her 2019 book Finding The Bright Side: The Art of Chasing What Matters, Shannon tells of the strict home training she received as a child, how she resented it at the time, and how very grateful she is for it today. Academic Journey and Success in Beauty Pageantry
She began her academic journey at a grade school in her hometown of Tallahassee, Florida where her mom taught. Afterward, she moved on to North Florida Christian High School in Tallahassee and graduated in 1988 at the age of 17. With her high school over, Shannon proceeded to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and graduated with a degree in business in 1992.
While at college in 1990, Shannon Bream enrolled for the Miss Virginia beauty pageant and emerged the winner. Encouraged by the success, she entered for the Miss America pageant the following year. Although she did not win this time, Shannon Bream was among the top 10 finalists.
She graduated from Liberty University in 1993 and proceeded to obtain her JD from Florida State University Law School. While at the law school in 1995, she entered for the Miss Florida USA pageant and won. That same year, she competed in the Miss USA 1995 pageant and finished 4th.
Her Career in Law and Why it Didn’t Last

She probably thought she would be able to express this potential best as a lawyer which must have informed her decision to go to law school. After she graduated from Florida State University College of Law in 1996, she moved to Tampa, Florida where she began her law career, working as a solicitor.
Shannon hardly lasted five years in the law profession. Somehow, her childhood ambition of being a journalist continued to haunt her. Eventually, she had to yield to the direction of her utmost passion.
How Shannon Bream Found Her Place In Journalism
Not only did Shannon Bream’s parents try to discourage her from choosing journalism as a career, but her boss in her first TV job also did. Today, however, we are all witnesses to the fact that she has proved naysayers wrong. With absolutely no formal training in journalism, Shannon Bream moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2001 where she began working as the evening and late-night news reporter for WBTV which is an affiliate of CBS. She was fired from that job three years later. Instead of feeling sorry for herself or contemplating a return to her law career, Shannon decided to keep pushing. Eventually, she got a job with WRC-TV, an NBC affiliate, working as a weekend anchor at their Washington studio.
While she was working at WRC-TV, Shannon met Brit Hume who was the Washington bureau managing editor of Fox News Channel. Brit encouraged her to submit audition tapes to Fox News. She did and her Fox News career kicked off. She began at Fox by putting her law background to use as the channel’s Supreme Court correspondent.
Who Is Shannon Bream’s Husband?
Shannon Bream’s husband is Sheldon Bream. Shannon and Sheldon were school mates at Liberty University and began to get close to each other after Shannon won the Miss Virginia Beauty Pageant in 1990. From being friendly with each other, they became lovers as well. They finally tied the knot in 1995 immediately after graduating from college. The couple celebrated the 20th anniversary of their wedding in 2015.
Sheldon who is related to the former Major League Baseball star Sid Bream is a native of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Like her wife Shannon, Sheldon is a communicator but in a different way as a public speaker. After studying Sports Management and Business at Liberty, Sheldon worked with the Washington Speakers’ Bureau (WSB) that prides itself as “an orator agency”.
Sheldon has floated his own public speaking company known as the Bream Speakers Management (BSM). Like WSB, BSM trains speakers and helps to connect them to their clients.
