After the war, Barker returned to complete his higher education at Drury College (now known as Drury University) and earned a degree in Economics, graduating summa cum laude.

From 1972 to 1988, he was a host of the game show. After the passing of the original executive producer, Barker took over the role and made changes that cemented his legacy on Daytime television.
Bob Barker’s The Price is Right became the longest-running game show of all time in North America in September 2006, leading every other competing daytime TV show in ratings for 25 years. In the following month after setting the record, Bob retired from the Price is Right. During his time on the show, he won the Daytime Emmy Award 19 times, winning 14 individual awards for Outstanding Game Show host and five Outstanding Game Show awards as executive producer.
