It may be inappropriate to say that Cesar Millan is the king of dogs but when it comes to dogs and their behavior, he is number one. The Mexican-American is has built a career spanning over 25 years in dog training and culturing. Cesar Milan is a dog behaviorist and is popularly known for his reality TV show ‘Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan’ which garnered millions of views from various countries across the globe. He is not just known for his on-screen feats, Millan’s works include books, DVDs, and a wide range of dog products to show for his status.

Given his controversial portfolio, Cesar always has the public ’sniffing’ into his life and coming up with different speculations. But in other to bring clarity, let us dig deeper into the life of the man with the very unique career.

Who Is Cesar Millan? Bio, Age

He was born César Felipe Millán Favela on August 27, 1969, to his parents; Millan Guillen and Maria Favela in Sinaloa, Mexico. His love for animals started at a very tender age. Growing up, Cesar would spend time tending to animals on his grandfather’s farm. At the time, he already had a connection with dogs and would earn the nickname “Dog Boy.” He discovered his passion real quick and soon decided to chase that dream. Millan wanted to take his passion to showbiz; he wanted to work with pets on TV.

He made his way to the US at the age of 21 and took up different odd jobs to sustain himself. He was a dog walker and gradually gained attention for his unique way of handling dogs. Confiding in Jada Pinkett Smith about his plans, Pinkett encouraged him to learn the English language to be able to excel in the US. Millan established Pacific Point Canine Academy while he learned the foreign language. He soon opened up the Dog Psychology Centre in Los Angeles which deals with different breeds of dogs.

Millan who always wanted to have his own show was getting more popular and in 2002, he started having TV stakeholders approach him. In 2004, his reality series Dog Whisperer kicked off and was aired on National Geographic Channel. The show became a hit and earned millions of views across the globe. He launched his own magazine ‘Cesar’s Way’ in 2008. The magazine featured various articles that dwelt on man’s relationship with dogs. He launched another series ‘Cesar 911’ in 2014 and it aired on Nat Geo Wild.

Family – Wife, Son, Divorce

Millan’s personal life would have been devoid of drama but for some unforeseen circumstances. The ace dog behaviorist was first married to Ilusión Millan. The couple who were fond of each other at the time tied the knot in 1994. Their union saw the birth of two sons; Andre born in 1995 and Calvin born in 2001. Things were moving smoothly between the couple until 2010 when Cesar lost his dog ‘Daddy’.

Daddy, an American Pit Bull Terrier died in 2010 and left Cesar in pain. Cesar fell into depression and to make things worse, he learned of his wife’s intentions to divorce him. The dog specialist attempted to take his own life at the time but did not succeed. However, Ilusión eventually filed for a divorce that year and the couple finally closed the curtains on their marriage.

Cesar started a new relationship that year with actress Dahira Jar from the Dominican Republic. It has been an awe-inspiring romantic experience all through for the lovebirds who are still together. Even more interesting, six years into their relationship, Cesar proposed to the actress while on a vacation in Greece. Fans of the popular Dog Whisperer are really excited about their union and are looking forward to hearing the wedding bells ring soon.

Cesar Millan was a victim of a death hoax in 2014 when a website reported him dead. The rumors that he died from a heart attack came two years after his divorce with first wife Ilusión.

The rumors were further fuelled by earlier reports that the dog behaviorist who was mourning the death of his dog, Daddy, attempted suicide on discovering his first wife’s intent to divorce him. But all these were trashed by proofs that he is ‘drunk in love with his girlfriend, Jahira.
