The Englishman’s history is telling; it seems he has always wanted to be an actor. Daniel Ings went through some rigorous training to enable him to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor.
For his high school education, Ings went to Dauntsey’s School located in Wiltshire. After his time there, he moved on to Lancaster University from where he graduated in 2008, earning himself a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts.
Subsequently, the then-budding actor studied at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and then at the National Youth Theatre. It was at this time that he started trying his hands at acting as a career. This was in 2004 and saw him appear in a number of plays such as his debut production The Master and Margarita which was performed at The Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith, London.
He continued to appear in stage productions even while his time on the big screen was well and truly underway. Some of his subsequent plays include White Boy (2007), Frankenstein (2011), and One Man, Two Guvnors (2012).
Daniel Ings’ television bow came in 2010 with his guest appearance on the television series Peep Show. He managed to cram in three more movie projects into the same year: The Third One This Week, Funny Money, and Audiobook. He also started playing recurring roles on Psychoville and Pete vs Life in 2010.
The next year, he was William Shaw in The Last Temptation of William Shaw, and a guard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tide. In the same year, Ings also took up another recurring role on The Cafe, playing the role of John Streatfield.
The following year was a relatively less busy one as he focused more on stage work. He, however, managed to make a guest appearance on an episode of Little Crackers as Dan. In 2013, his career continued in the same uncharacteristic slow manner as he appeared in only two movies, Macbeth and Medics.
He picked up speed again in 2014. Daniel Ings made guest appearances in Uncle, Give Out Girls, and Endeavour. He also had recurring roles as Robbie in Mount Pleasant, Matt Taverner in W1A, and Luke in Lovesick. He appeared in 8 episodes for each of the first two series while he has notched over 20 episodes for Lovesick.
As of 2018, the actor has been on more than 10 more projects, some of which have helped to boost his pedigree and reputation within the industry. These include Netflix’s series The Crown where he played Commander Mike Parker, and as Andy in the CBS series Instinct.

Simply put, Daniel Ings is as straight as they come. The rumour of his homosexuality stemmed from his involvement in CBS’s television series, Instinct. In the series, he played the character Andy who is a gay man and husband to Alan Cumming’s character. Perhaps the fires of the rumour were further stoked by the fact that Alan is a real life bisexual and is married to a man.
Daniel may have portrayed the character excellently and received praise from many quarters including the LGBT community, however, he is not homosexual.

Daniel doesn’t hide the fact that he loves and adores his family; he has admitted this severally in interviews. However, the Englishman remains tight-lipped as to the juicy details of his personal life.
He is married to a woman known by the name Georgia Gibbs. The couple dated for about a decade before they got married, although the exact date of their wedding is not known. The couple has two boys together.
Ings notably celebrated his wife’s 30th birthday – which also happens to be Valentine’s Day by booking an exquisite hotel room in London for her. He freed her to go have fun by herself while he cleared his schedule and stayed home to take care of the boys.
