Since his debut in 1994 in the film Under Heat, David Conrad has starred in over thirty movies and television series. He is popular for starring alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt in the TV series Ghost Whisperer from 2005 to 2010. The actor has since then gone on to feature in a lot of films and television series like Wedding CrashersFollow the ProphetAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Law, and Order: Special Victims Unit which has all seen rave reviews.

David Conrad Bio

The U.S actor was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on the 17th of August 1967. Conrad is the last of the three children (all boys) born to an engineer dad James Watson Conrad, and his beautiful librarian wife Margaret Clement Conrad.

He is the great-grandson of a renowned electrical engineer Frank Conrad. David grew up on the border of Edgewood and attended Swissvale High School before transferring to The Kiski School – an all-boys preparatory school located in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania.

He graduated from high school in 1985 and headed to Brown University where he studied history and acted for a while before leaving school to work as a carpenter, then a housepainter, barista, and even interviewed steelworkers for a historical society in Pittsburgh. David Conrad would later go back to study, this time he studied theatre at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York and was a member of the Drama Division’s Group 25 from 1992-1996.

While at Juilliard, he participated in a couple of stage productions including the stage adaptation of The Cider House Rules (a novel written by John Irving). Conard left Juilliard before his final year to accept a role in the film Snow White in the Black Forest which also starred Sigourney Weaver. The film was later released in 1997 as Snow White: A Tale of Terror on Showtime.

David Conrad’s feature film debut was actually a small role in the 1994 film Under Heat. In 1996, he landed a role as Leo Roth on the TV series Relativity, at the time he landed that role, he was committed to a Pittsburgh production of Tom Stoppard’s play Arcadia but because the producers felt he was the right person for the role, the filming of the series was rescheduled to accommodate his stage work.

In 1998, he starred alongside Anne Heche and Vince Vaughn in the drama-thriller movie Return to Paradise. After the movie, he returned to the stage and made his first Broadway debut on Terence Rattigan’s The Deep Blue Sea, where he portrayed Blythe Danner’s younger lover. He would later appear in off-Broadway productions of Tom Stoppard’s Indian Ink, Richard II, and Troilus and Cressida. His most recent stage performance is as Pale in Burn This staged at the New Hazlett Theater in Pittsburgh in 2009.

In 1999, David Conrad starred in the television drama The Weekend alongside Brooke Shields and Gena Rowlands, in that same year, he was on A Season for Miracles which was originally aired on CBS. The seasoned actor then played alongside Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Robert De Niro in Men of Honor (2000)Between 1999 and 2002, he played a recurring role on the WB series Roswell as well as on Fox’s drama series Boston Public from 2000 to 2005. Conrad was Woody Allen in the comedy Anything Else in 2003 and as Detective Ed Exley in Fox’s adaptation of “L.A. Confidential.

David then acted on NBC’s Miss Match briefly before the series stopped airing after the eleventh episode. In 2005, he was seen in Wedding Crashers together with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn; in that same year, he landed a major regular role on CBS’ Ghost Whisperer playing Jim Clancy (Jennifer Love Hewitt’s paramedic husband). In 2010, the Pittsburgh-born actor appeared on an episode of CSI: Miami and in 2013 he started playing the recurring role of Ian Quinn in the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Hollywood actor played the role of a gardener who had a gay affair in which he did a tastefully nude scene in Under Heat. Despite his composure and being relaxed in the movie, coupled with the fact that he isn’t married and is rarely spotted around with any woman, the actor has still not come out as gay.

Aside from his acting career, the Pittsburgh native is also a visiting professor of Literature and Drama at the University of Pittsburgh, so when he is not on the set of any movie or stage production, he is out lecturing and attending to his students.
