Socratis Otto is one actor who can hold his own both on stage, in films, and on the small screen. Born on May 5, 1970, and raised in Sydney, New South Wales, he was fascinated by what goes on both in theatre and on-screen as a child and was also highly interested in writing. When he came of age and realized that a career in the showbiz industry was his forte, he pursued it head front.

After graduating from high school, Otto proceeded to college where he bagged a degree in creative writing and literature. He then followed it up with acting training at NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art), graduating in 2000. The institution counts among its alumni top actors like Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. Following his graduation, he started auditioning for roles on stage, as well as in films and on television.

Salt, a 2001 Sydney Theatre Company production saw his first stage appearance and marked his acting debut as well. In 2009, Otto played the titular role in the drama-documentary Darwin’s Brave New World. A major role in the soap opera, Home and Away was his next undertaking that same year. He played Robert Robertson, a role that exposed him to wide acclaim, through 37 episodes for three years. Also in 2009, he had minor parts in BeautifulX-Men Origins: Wolverine, as well in several short films.

Socratis Otto was also part of the 2012 mystery thriller film, Gone as Jim, My Mistress as Leon, and the American–Australian science-fiction horror film I, Frankenstein where he played a brave warrior known as Zuriel.
