Korean musician, J-Hope has already achieved a lot in the music industry and is surely doing his fanbase proud. Not many can juggle being a dancer, rapper, record producer, singer and songwriter but J-Hope is doing a great job at it and loving it. He has been active in the industry since 2013 and also holds a record of being the highest ever charting Korean pop artist on the Billboard 200.

J-Hope’s Biography & Age

Born Jung Ho-Seok on the 18th of February 1994 in Gwangju, South Korea, the multi-talented musician is popularly known by his stage name ‘J-Hope’. From a young age, he was known for his tremendous dancing skills and to this effect, he won several local dance prizes such as 1st position in a national dance competition in 2008. His dancing skills inspired his interest in singing, prompting him to audition and be selected as an Idol trainee. While he was a trainee, he featured as a rapper in 2012’s Animal, a song by Jo Kwon.

On the 13th of June 2013, J-Hope made his debut as a member of BTS with the song No More Dream from “2 Cool 4 Skool”, their debut single album. Ever since he joined as a trainee, he has been involved in the creation process of all BTS albums. Together with his band members, J-Hope has performed at various iconic events such as Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve, American Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards.

On the 1st of March 2018, J-Hope released his first solo mixtape titled Hope World; it debuted at number 63 and peaked at number 38 on the Billboard 200. It also peaked at number 19 on the US Top Rap Albums chart and number 35 on the Canadian Albums chart. Hope World was described as fun and was commended for its variety of music genres.

J-Hope has also appeared on television shows such as SBS’ Inkigayo (2016), MBC’s Show! Music Core (2016), Mnet’s M Countdown (2017) and MBC’s Under Nineteen (2019). He also appeared in short films such as Boy Meets Evil (2016) and MAMA (2016).

As proof of his far-reaching popularity, when he posted his In My Feelings Challenge video in 2018, he had the most liked tweet in the world for 2018. Along with other members of BTS, J-Hope was also awarded the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea.

J-Hope is also known as a philanthropist at heart; he made a private donation of 150 million Korean won to Child Fund Korea in December 2018 and on the 18th of February 2019, his birthday, he donated 100 million Korean won to the same organization. All the donations are in support of those attending his high school alma mater in Gwangju.

Sister

Not much is said about his parents but J-Hope has a sister named Jung Dawon. It is public knowledge that the musician and his sister have a really good relationship. Though she is four years older than him, they are more like best friends. She owns and models for her clothing line called Mejiwoo. J-Hope has also helped his sister promote her clothing line and she also supports her brother in all that he does.

As a dancer, it is not surprising to hear that J-Hope is in great shape. The BTS star has a height listed at 5 feet and 10 inches. The musician also has a commensurate weight of 65kg. Considering he is not a fan of working out, having his amazing physique is quite an achievement.
