Today, she still remains under the radar of the media but this time, it’s mostly for the many controversies that she keeps getting into.

Jacqueline Dena Guber – Bio, Age

It was on 14 June 1968 that Jacqueline Dena Guber was born in the United States. Shortly after she was born, Jaqueline was adopted by Barbara Walters and her then-husband, Lee Guber.

While Barbara did not have any other child of her own, Lee had already had two children at the time, birthed to him by his first wife Edna Shanis. When Jackie was eight years old, her parents went through a divorce and so, she remained with her mother who would marry Merv Adelson in 1981 but the marriage would end in 1984. She still got married again in 1986, only for it to end again in 1992.

From a very young age, Jacqueline Dena Guber had started having so many personal troubles that by the time she was fifteen, she was already into heavy partying and drugs. In 1984, at the age of 15, Jackie, who described herself as a runaway child, left home with the hopes that she would get away from her problems. For up to a month, her mom could not find her and could not bring herself to contact the police because she was trying to avoid making it all worse for her daughter.

When she was finally contacted by a man who had given her daughter a lift, she sent a 6 feet 7 inches ex-Green Beret to fetch her. But instead of bringing her back home, she was taken to an intervention program in Idaho which she said had saved her life. Three years later, she graduated from high school. Much later, she would start a program that she tagged “New Horizons” so as to help rescue troubled teenagers like herself.

Facts On Barbara Walters’ Daughter

  • 1. Her adoption

Before Jaqueline was adopted, her mother had suffered from several miscarriages which she kept hidden from the public. She was first married to Robert Henry Katz in 1955 but by 1957, the union was annulled. Five years into her second marriage, she was still having problems with giving birth and decided to adopt a daughter who she named Jacqueline after her own sister.

  • 2. Change of name

When she was 18, Jacqueline Dena Guber changed her name by adopting her father’s name instead of her mother’s because her mother was more famous and she did not want to be identified with the fame. Shortly before the change of name, her father Lee Guber had died of cancer.

Although changing her name has worked for her a little in hiding her identity, the shadow of her mother is too big that Jacqueline cannot escape from it.

  • 3. Marriage and Husband

Jacqueline Dena Guber once got married in 1995 to a man known as Scott Pontius. The marriage held in Washington State was very private. 10 years later, the marriage self-destructed and both parties went their separate ways.

Interestingly, both Jackie and Pontius would later have their lines crossing with that of the law as she would be arrested for a DIU bust in 2013 and she also confronted and verbally abused arresting officers. Years before then, her former husband was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend.

Another person linked to her as a husband is Mark Danforth, although there is no available timeline of their relationship.

At the age of 12, she was already 6 feet tall and that was something she found really difficult to handle while growing up because as a little girl, she was out of place. Or so she felt. Her actual height today is not known, but she is slightly above 6 feet which keeps her well above her mother who is only 5 feet 5 inches.
