Jake Abel Biography
Jake was born as Jacob Allen Abel on November 18, 1987, in Canton, Ohio, the son of Kim and Mike Abel. Abel has a brother named Scott. As a kid, Abel was homeschooled by his mother Kim. He is of German, Swiss-German, and English descent.
As a kid, Abel began starring in commercials. After graduating from high school, he began acting professionally in 2005. He began his carer appearing in three episodes of the TV series Threshold. Also in 2005, Abel got a role in the Disney Channel Original Movie Go Figure. He continued starring in other Disney productions including an episode of The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.
He also appeared in episodes of Cold Case and CSI: Miami. In 2008, he had a small role in Strange Wilderness and appeared in the indie film Tru Loved. Abel also had a role in Flash of Genius for which he was honored with a Rising Star award at the 16th Hamptons International Film Festival.
He appeared in The Lovely Bones, a film adapted from Alice Sebold’s novel. He appeared in the 2009 web series, Angel of Death. From 2009 to 2010, Abel played the recurring role of Adam Milligan/Michael in Supernatural.
Abel would get the biggest break of his career in 2010 when he landed the role of Luke Castellan in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. His role earned him an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight and Teen Choice Award for Best Fight.
He reprised his role in the 2013 sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Abel played in the 2011 teen science fiction action thriller film, I Am Number Four. Despite the negative reviews from critics, the film managed to make thrice of its budget from the global box office.
Abel portrayed Ian O’Shea in the 2013 romantic science fiction thriller film, The Host, adapted from Twilight’s Stephenie Meyer’s novel of the same name. Abel’s other films include; Against the Sun (2014), Good Kill (2014), Love and Mercy (2014), and Almost Friends (2016). In recent years, Jake Abel has slowed down on his acting, however, he was spotted attending the 2018 Golden Globes award and also made it to the after-party.
