Hollywood actor Jason Behr ventured into show business at a very young age and eventually rose to prominence in the late 90s for his portrayal of the lead character on the Sci-Fi series Roswell. His performance on the show earned him much critical praise including two Saturn and Teen Choice Awards nominations respectively. He also got to play lead roles in several movies, including the 2004 horror film The Grudge which was a box office hit. He starred in several indie movies in the late 2000s and also had a recurring role on the crime series Breakout Kings. However, the Roswell star seems to have embarked on a hiatus as he has not featured in any movies or TV shows in recent years.

Jason Behr – Biography

This Hollywood star was born Jason Nathaniel Behr in 1973 on the 30th day of the month of December. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Patricia Ann Steiner and David Behr. After his parents got divorced, he moved with his mother to Richfield, Minnesota where he attended St. Richards Catholic Elementary. He also attended Richfield Senior High School. He has an older brother named Johnny and 2 younger brothers Aaron and Andrew. He equally has a younger half-sister named Alisa Behr.

Behr’s acting talents first came to light when he took part in a school play at the age of 5. By the time he was 8 years old, he had begun featuring in theatre productions and commercials. He also did voice-overs and modeling as a child and continued performing all through his years as a high schooler. At age 19, he came across talent manager Marvin Dauer who encouraged him to move to Los Angeles and as expected, his career took a major leap upon his relocation to LA.

Movies And TV Shows

Jason Behr landed his first regular TV role on the comedy series Sherman Oaks (1995-97) which lasted for 2 seasons. He had a minor role in the made-for-TV movie Alien Nation: Millennium (1996) and in 1997, he guest-starred on different TV series including Pacific BlueJAGThe Profiler7th Heaven, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also had a regular role as Dempsey Easton on the very short-lived primetime soap opera Push (1998). Also in 1998, he landed the recurring role of Chris Wolfe on season 2 of the teen series Dawson’s Creek (1998-99).

His biggest television role was on the Sci-Fi TV series Roswell (1999-2002). His portrayal of the lead character Max Evans during the 3-season stint of the show earned him multiple award nominations. He was nominated for the Choice TV Actor Award at the 2000 and 2001 editions of the Teen Choice Awards. The talented actor got nominated for the Best Genre TV Actor Award at the 2000 Saturn Awards and he was also nominated for the Best Actor on Television Award at the 2001 Saturn Awards.

While his small-screen credits continued to soar, Jason Behr also recorded a couple of big-screen credits. He marked his feature film debut in the highly-acclaimed comedy flick Pleasantville (1998), starring alongside Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon. His next role was in the thriller film Rites of Passage (1999) followed by an award-winning performance as Dennis Buggit in The Shipping News (2001) alongside Kevin Spacey, Cate Blanchett, and Judi Dench. His performance in The Shipping News earned him the Award for Standout performance at the 2002 Young Hollywood Awards.

The talented actor portrayed the lead character Doug McCarthy in the highly successful horror movie The Grudge (2004), starring opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar. He also appeared in Man of God (2005) and was the lead star of the horror-action film Skinwalkers (2007). He equally had lead roles in D-War (2007), The Tattooist (2007), The Last International Playboy (2008), and Senseless (2008).

Despite his brilliant performance on the series Roswell, Jason Behr’s career on television took a nosedive, starting from the mid-2000s. He featured in several TV pilots but none of them saw the light of day. His breakthrough eventually came in the early 2010s when he was cast in the crime series Breakout Kings (2012), starring as a recurring character Damien Fontleroy.

Who Is Jason Behr’s Wife?

Jason Behr has been married to actress KaDee Strickland for over a decade. The duo met in 2004 when they co-starred in the film The Grudge. They became fast friends and eventually began dating when the filming came to an end. After dating for about 2 years, the couple tied the knot on November 10, 2006. Their wedding ceremony which was held in Ojai, California, had elements of the Japanese culture, owing to the couple’s mutual interest in Japan. Behr and his wife welcomed their first child in October 2013, a son named Atticus.
