Beyond The Camera; Jason Momoa’s Family And His Scar

We have slowly come to terms with the fact that this star is off the market, hell, we have even come to love his family and admire their togetherness. So it’s time to check out all we have on Jason Momoa’s wife, their kids and just for fun, the scar he sports boldly on his left eyebrow.

Jason Momoa’s Wife

She is no stranger to the world, Lisa Bonet is best known for her role as Denise Huxtable–Kendall on the sitcom, The Cosby ShowFunny story, Momoa had a massive crush on her while growing up, we cannot imagine how amazing it is to grow up and actually marry your childhood celebrity crush, he’s living the dream.

Before she became Jason Momoa’s wife, Lisa was married to the singer, Lenny Kravitz. Don’t worry, the marriage was duly terminated before she got married again. The two eloped on November 16, 1987, which happened to be her 20th birthday. They had their daughter, Zoe Isabella Kravitz, on December 1, 1988, then five years later the marriage ended.

She was on her own for a while, but in 2005 she was introduced to the star through a mutual friend, little did she know that she was about to become Jason Momoa’s wife. Here is what Jason had to say about the experience of meeting her for the first time.

‘ We met through mutual friends, But when I first met her, she didn’t know I was a stalker, but I was. I was with one of my best friends and when I turned around, and they were going to introduce us, literally like, FIREWORKS. She said ‘Hi I’m Lisa’.  And I said ‘Hi, I’m Jason’ and I just turn around to my buddy like… (freaking out).’

It’s so great that it worked out for them, especially since this year will make it a decade since they tied the knot.

Jason Momoa’s Kids

The couple has two lovely kids together and they were born a year apart in 2007, then 2008. Their daughter, Lola Iolani came first as she was born in July 2007, then came their son Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha ( yes, that is one person’s name) who was born on 15 December 2008.

That is one long name, but his mother revealed the wonderful meaning behind it, Nakoa means ‘warrior’ and Mana stands for ‘strength/spirit, Kaua (rain) and Po (dark) refer to the circumstances surrounding the night he was born, which was a night of turbulent weather, which rarely happens in Los Angeles. In addition to that he shares the name Namakaeha with his father.

Jason also maintains a very close relationship with his step daughter, Zoe Kravitz, the two even have quirky matching tattoos that span across their forearms. The tattoos read, ‘ etre toujours ire’ which roughly translates to mean ‘be always drunk’. There must be an interesting story behind that.

In addition to all this, Lisa, Jason and Lenny have the perfect blended family. Zoe confirmed this in 2015, when she told  Ocean Drive Magazine, ‘ It makes things so easy that my parents are still very close, they have so much love for each other, My dad and my step-dad get along really well, and my dad loves and is close with my brother and sister.’

Jason Momoa’s Scar

Think of it as a battle scar of sorts, with a lot of emphasis on the ‘of sorts’ part. The scar on his left eyebrow has become part and parcel of the actor’s brand and as a whole, it has given some character and danger to his pretty boy look. He has had the scar for close to a decade and there is a very interesting story behind it.

The star went out to get a few drinks with buddies, but sometimes buddies+alcohol+strangers is a recipe for disaster. Thankfully this disaster did not cost him his eye as he was involved in a bar brawl that ended with him taking a pint glass to the eye. The glass shattered, but miraculously it did not blind him.

It did require 140 stitches to patch him up though, nevertheless, it took care of the pretty boy ‘problem’ he had been carrying around for a bit, leaving him looking more like a pretty bad boy.
